I am right there with you. I lasted 3 months and quit. I am older and decided I am not going to work in an environment where I hate it! I have a job I love now, days, M-F. I am home at night, week ends and Holidays. It was the right decision for me, so make the decision based on what you need to do. If you want to stay in bedside nursing you need to stick it out, if not there are other options out there.

I am in the same boat! I have an ADN and will complete my BSN in Feb 2011. I started a job on a Medical unit 2 months ago and HATE it I am quiting today. It is a very risky move, but my sanity is more important than a job. I feel as though I am running from room to room, shoving meds at them, only to hurry and chart the wonderful I gave! I am looking into coordinator or nurse educator. I am researching this topic as well. I will post as I find info...good luck

Thanks for the advice! I RAN like the wind yesterday. They will not play me like a fool. They can find some other fool to do it, which I'm sure there are plenty!

Thanks All. I gave my notice today. They said if I don't chart for the LVN, then I need to quit because they can't let the LVN go because she has been there for 10 years. Needless to say I quit and I feel great about my decision.

Thank you all who have contributed to my situation. I really appreciate your feedback. I am quiting tomorrow right when I walk in. I have read every response and my knowledge as a new grad just improved ten fold!!! Thanks all.

Actually to complicate matters, the director suggested I chart in third person, as in, "LVN intructed pt to......LVN assessment BP 122/80, HR 76...., LVN adminstered 0.4 mg NTG..... Does this make it even more crazy?

Thank you for the reply! My thoughts too. My common sense keeps telling me its wrong, but the director keeps telling me its ok because I need to co sign the LVN's notes anyway. By the way, in Calif an RN does not need to co-sign. I'm not returng to this place.

I started a new job at an adult day health center. The director is telling me I need to chart for the LVN because she is older and unwilling to learn how to chart on the computer. Mind you, I am not with her when she does her patient care, but I am asked to chart for her, using a post it note that she used to jot down info while seeing the patient. I am a new grad and need advice. My common sense says NO WAY, but the director is insisting I do it. Am I playing with fire, and should I quit?

I had a preceptor who sounds exactly like your nurse. She would tell me to be quiet in front of other nurses and patients, she would belittle me, tell other nurses I am terrible at IV's and put me down, although I was sucesssful with 8 out of 9 IV attempts! She would break basic rules too, but with me she would stand over me and pick at me non stop about things like using 2 alcohol wipes, or wiping up instead of down..... I talked to my instructor. I kept it very short and to the point. I didn't want to sound unprofessional and immature. Basically I told her the nurse will probably give me a terrible eval and that she was not a very easy person to get along with. I told my instructor I will be very professional, polite and praise my preceptor like she was the greatest nurse on earth. Although it killed me to do it, I did it so I would not make waves, get my hours done, and get the heck out of there. She ended up giving me a decent eval. I was top in my class and always received above average on all my clinical evals through school, so it was very hard to be treated this way. In the end, I am done with my preceptor hours, school and have just passed my boards. Just keep your eye on the reason you are there, and take from it what you can...you are learning how to work with a difficult nurse. You will be prepared for this situation if it comes up again. Be grateful, kind and give compliments to her with out sounding fake. It worked for me!

It sounds like my experience exactly. Same questions, lots of meds, infection, no pathophysiololgy, lots of SATA's and shut off at 75! I tried the pearson vue trick, got the pop up, and found out today that I passed!!!! If you got the pop up you should pass! Good Luck.

FORGET the last posting....I followed the directions EXACTLY as described in the post from page 144 and I got the pop-up!!! YEAH if the trick works..I passed!!!! If anyone is not sure how to do the trick...go to page 144 and follow the detailed directions.......

I'm in CA and they do not particiapte in quick results! So, my questions is....I do not get a pop-up when I try and re-register or schedule...but it says delivery sucessful and a message in red appears and states "your state does not participate in quick results." I'm worried because I do not get the pop-up, but I cannot reregister either, which is good sign....SO concerned. Should I worry? Anyone with the same problem?

I just checked and it said Delivery Successful, it also said your state does not participate in quick results, and does not let me go to cc/pay screen. I HOPE this is a good sign!!!
