  1. Hi everyone. I am an LPN specializing in restorative care. It is my personal opinion that since Federal and State law mandate that LTC facilities provide all necessary measures for each patient to ATTAIN or MAINTAIN their highest level of functioning possible, many, many people should be in structured restorative nursing programs. I have talked to several people in the VA long-term care arena, and this seems to be totally overlooked in the LTC facilities for our Veterans. Does anyone have any insight into VA long-term care facilities and whether or not this is being done??? I am considering a job in a VA LTC facility, but restorative nursing is really my thing and I would like to get it going there.
  2. I agree with the others who said this just isn't right. This is how errors occur and unless you stand up for yourself, management in some companies just don't care. I would definitely talk it over with the DON or Administrator and if nothing gets done, there are plenty of other ones out there who are good and do care. Good luck!
  3. Sorry about that - I'm new. I just realized your posting was pretty old. How's it going for you?
  4. I have some experience with restorative nursing and it's not at all as complicated as it sounds. The RAI requires a written care plan, measurable goals, documentation of daily minutes, and periodic reviews by the nurse in charge of the program. Usually documentation is the problem. How many care plans are you dealing with?
