  1. Hi beccajean, I'm actually looking for same exact info! I haven't purchased the ANCC book yet, just using the ATI RN Mental Health Nursing review book from school to do an overview and quick review for now until I get better suggestions.
  2. As a RN, I would obtain the first set of VS and if stable, delegate to the LPN or CNA the subsequent VS. But it also depends on the patients condition. If the patient is immediate post-op, I as the RN would do the VS myself until the patient is stable. But if the patient has been post-op for the past week and has been stable, it should be safe for the LPN or CNA to obtain VS.
  3. Those numbers are actually pretty good. I could never get higher than 64% on Kaplan, my lowest score was 58%, and they say to aim for 65%. I passed nclex with 75 questions, I agree with the other poster that Kaplan is harder than the nclex.
  4. Anything that requires teaching, patients going into a procedure, admissions and transfers go to the RN. Unstable patients go to RN (patient reporting any pain needs to be assessed, SOB, starting new med, patient refusing meds, anything new onset) Patients that are stable and require tasks that need to be completed within scope of practice goes to the LPN. They may reinforce teaching. In my state, LPNs can administer IV meds, just not bolus or through PICC lines. RNs hang the first bag of solution. Ex. Suctioning, dressing changes, tube feedings, med pass. Tasks that assist the most stable patient goes to UAP. Ex. Changing briefs, emptying drainage bags, assisting with feeding (but not patients with risk of aspiration), assist with ambulation (stable patients), bathing, assisting in bedpan/commode, bed making, range of motion The RN delegates and is responsible for the assignment she/he delegates.
  5. I used the Kaplan question trainers and qbank. I also briefly used nclex 3500 (its free, there is a link somewhere on this site) but I found the Kaplan questions more challenging. There's also a nclex 4000 but I believe u have to pay for that one. I also took out 4 Q&A books from the library, but flipping back and forth to check my answers were too tedious for me so I scrapped that and just went with kaplan.
  6. Yes I did, I did all of the question trainers, scored between 58-64%, and I did about half of the qbank questions
  7. What is your study plan? Have u taken a review course such as Kaplan? You have an advantage in receiving your performance report because you can see what areas you did poorly in. Focus on those areas, pick up a Saunders review book and practice questions. If you can do 150-200 questions per day and STUDY and UNDERSTAND rationales, you should be ok. Personally, I took the Kaplan course and I feel that it overprepared me for the NCLEX. I know its expensive, but i feel it was wirth every penny. I studied from Saunders Review book. Good luck! Praying for you, you can do it!
  8. I live in NY, and applied to NY BON. I mailed in my paperwork and $143 fee on 11/23, they cashed the check on Tuesday 11/27. I paid for NCLEX-RN through Pearson Vue on 11/28. I received the ATT via email on Tuesday 12/4. The whole process took almost 2 weeks. Just scheduled the NCLEX for January 8. Hope this helped
  9. Cheaters come a dime a dozen. It happens everyday, everywhere, it may be happening right under your own nose, whether you like it or not. If she's not caught, and she gets a higher mark than me, it WILL COME BACK TO HER, some way some how. Whether it be on an exam, care plan, however. She may not be so lucky next semester to find a sucker to do her care plan for her. Cheaters never get ahead. Yes, I think I am too nice and too forgiving, but I like to think of those as positive traits. . I refuse to get involved with someone else's poor choices. If the other student that's doing the care plan for her can't stand up for herself and say no, exactly what will I be reporting to the instructor? That the student asked to have my care plan? As methodical as she is, she will probably just say she wanted to use it as a guide. Now she went and asked someone to do it FOR her, and they agreed to do it. Not my problem. The other student willingly agreed to do it. Am I supposed to swoop in like SuperWoman and righteously cry "Cheater! Cheater!" ? I will be the one looking like an idiot. Yup, my care plan is original, NO ONE has it, and it's damn good too. It goes into my folder at the end of the semester, and I'm surely proud of it too, as I am every semester. Thanks for the positivity.
  10. Holypeas, please read the entire thread before commenting. The woman asked me for my work, I DID NOT GIVE IT TO HER. She asked around and got someone to DO HER CARE PLAN FOR HER. So no, I don't have anything to worry about, thankyouverymuch.
  11. Honestly, I have no desire to get involved. The other student doing the care plan is also a grown woman, who can make her own decisions. If she wants to do the care plan for her, let her be. I have nothing to do with the situation. As long as my behind is safe and I know that my care plan IS ORIGINAL, I have no worries. I rest my head at night knowing that I do my own work and am proud to put my name on it. So, NO, I will not be reporting it to the instructor.
  12. Hi, OP here. Just an update: today was the first day I've seen the woman, she said hello but did not ask me for anything. I found out later that she has someone in our group DOING HER CAREPLAN FOR HER, with the excuse that she forgot the password to her computer, therefore she couldn't do her care plan. So essentially she has this other girl "typing" it for her, but really doing it for her. I don't understand how people can get away with this and still be able to lay their head on their pillow at night. Such a shame.
  13. This is the OP. First, thank u for all your responses. Just to clarify, this is an older woman who has no computer skills (she has said before that her teenage children help her on the computer). Our patients are maternity patients, which our instructor said she wants 2 nsg diagnosis for sure: pain and bleeding; which is why i suspect she would just copy it. Upon further thought, what adds to my anger was that she already had the extension, had already spoken to the teacher for it, and had been assigned her patient 4 weeks ago, which gave her ample time to complete the care plan, and this was before the death of her family member. I was assigned my patient 2 weeks ago and handed in my care plan last week. And that's juggling a full-time job, 2 classes, 2 children (8 and 1 1/2) and a husband (lol). I had asked another student, a friend of mine if anyone had asked to "borrow" her care plan, and she told me that the same student did. We conferred and compared our experience with this student, and come to find out she NEVER does her own care plans or assignments, she just gets them from other students in other clinical groups to hand in. This has been her m.o. Since the 1st semester, right now we are in our 3rd. This really set me off, and now I have no qualms with telling her NO. Please don't get me wrong, I am a strong willed person WITH a backbone, but she did come to me with a sob story and as a human being, I felt bad for her. Don't knock me for that. I haven't seen her since she asked me for the care plan, and my instructor has not given them back to us anyway, but if she does ask, I will definitely give her a piece of my mind. I have zero tolerance for opportunists and users. I will not be offering my "assistance" and helping her anyway, since that's not what she's looking for. She just wants a handout. Sorry, I'm not the one.
  14. I am in a Lpn to Rn program that I'd pretty fast paced, each semester is 10 weeks long. Anywho, I finished my care plan which took me 2 days to do and handed it in in time. One of my classmate just asked me if she can have my care plan when the teacher gives it back to me. Evidently to copy from it. I'm very upset as it took a lot of time and effort for me to complete for my classmate to just have it handed on her lap. I don't want to be mean but how can I gracefully say no? I dodged around her question and said "if she even gives it back." I feel bad with her issues, a family member of hers just died and she is planning the funeral. But cheating is cheating and I just don't think it's fair for her to just copy my work.
  15. Walk into ANY nursing home and submit your resume and application. More often than not, they will at least give you a call back.
