How to explain that I resigned after 2 mos?
Hiring a new grad to ICU is just asking for problems! If you haven't worked as an LPN, then you aren't even going to know your basic working knowledge of meds. Having a bad preceptor isn't helping much either. Well, cut bait & find a place that you fit good & that wants to help. There's plenty of places in nursing to find your place! Hang in there!

Desperate !!
If you have a strong B average, then your program is going to do whatever it can to keep you. Go to student aid, go to your Dean of Students, go to the nursing instructor that you like the best, go to the program director of the nursing program. I'd sleep in the library before I'd withdraw with only one semester to go! Get welfare: you don't have a job, so you will qualify. Get a job at McDonalds. Is there a YWCA around? Show them the information & they may allow you to stay & do work around there. Homeless shelters can help you too. You can always work at the college too: there's usually a position in the cafeteria that needs to be filled & lots of times they let you eat for free. Look on the bulletin board & see if someone is looking for a roommate. Maybe a nursing school student will let you move in with them. How about your friends in nursing school? You'll make it: it's only 12 weeks to the finish line!!!

Please help!
Give them 2 weeks notice at your current job, & you will always be welcome back. I really loved home health when I did that. The on-call time won't be that bad. You can't continue to work on only 3-4 hours sleep. That is being impaired at your job, & your patients will suffer!

Should I call or wait til I work again?
When I hire, I hire the people who are the most interested in getting the job, & know the most about the job before hand. Call & even leave a message, thanking her again, & letting her know what parts of the job sound the most exciting to you. When an applicant knows what they are going to be doing, I usually give them the first look, since they did their homework.

What to do???
Go now then. Find out what the passing score on boards is for the college you are investigating. If it is a very good percentage, then that's a good one. Go by the school & talk to the Director of the nursing program. Talk to some students & see what kind of loyalty they have for the course. If it's a good course & the instructors are respectful, then they will be loyal. Find out what kinds of grants & low interest loans are available through the student services. The ADN will take you 3 years in course work, even though they CALL it a 2 year course. You'll need to go to summer school too. Get your prerequisite courses out of the way before you start the nursing program: that will better tell them what kind of student you are going to be & let you know if you can put the kind of commitment to the program that you are going to have to do. Remember: if you miss 3 clinicals, you will be dropped from the program. So get your child care (sick child care too) out of the way first.
