  1. I practiced with ATI while in school. I used Kaplan Review Course to study for the NCLEX. I found that the questions on Kaplan were more in line with the NCLEX exam. It was hard and I had difficulty achieving more than 65% on any test on Kaplan. As for the "unofficial results", they are only unofficial because you cannot practice without being notified by the BON in your state. When you receive your license number from the state, it is then "official". I am sorry that you didn't pass. It is a tough test to take. I wish you the best on your next try!
  2. I passed at 75... found out this morning! :)
  3. I think ALL SATA questions are hard.
  4. I think it is nice to see if the percentage is really comparable to the statistics of the NCLEX. It was reassuring to me to see that the people from this board are pretty much in line with those statistics.
  5. One other thing, I was also worried because everyone said if you get a lot of priority questions and delegation questions, that is good! I did not get ONE delegation question asked. Not one! I worried over that. I did, however have priority questions.
  6. Good wishes for you both! You can do it!
  7. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. emnicams, Mine were just posted - I passed! I am praying for you! :)
  9. I passed, thank God! I was so sick over it the past few days.
  10. I just got my quick results and I passed!!!! Thank God!
  11. I am with you. I took my exam at 8:00 am on Thursday. I just tried to get my quick results and they are not up yet. I am so freaked out.
  12. Good luck. I took mine yesterday and the more time that goes by the more nervous I get waiting on the status. I just WANT TO KNOW.
  13. I took mine today. Stopped at 75. I was unsure of alot. Lots of priority questions, and pharm. I am sick over it... probably just because of the waiting. Hope to get the results soon.
  14. Well, I am back from taking the NCLEX. It shut off at 75 questions. I am praying I passed...
  15. Hi, just took the NCLEX. It shut off at 75 questions. I am really freaked. I finished in 45 minutes and was just horrified when it shut off. I hope I passed.
  16. Well, wish me luck, I am sitting for the boards tomorrow at 8:00am. I am terrified!!!!!
  17. Congratulations on your success! That is fantastic. And thank you, I am looking forward to getting the "big test" over. I have studied so much I am just plain sick of it. I used to smoke so much while studying. I gave a med/surg book to a friend and he almost died from the smell of smoke reeking from the book. He asked me if I put out my cigarettes in the book. I wanted to die!! I have been doing great, even while studying. I feel a whole lot better now when I wake up in the morning. :)
  18. I've heard these things too, but I have been on Chantix for 2.5 weeks and it is working for me. I do not get "freaky" dreams like everyone warned me about. It is just working for me. I am turning 40 this year and have smoked more than half of my life. I needed help, but didn't want to just replace nicotine with nicotine, so I am trying this. I have not had a cigarette in 2 weeks and have about 2 really memorable urges to smoke per day, which is tolerable. I had a very slight stomach upset for about 1 hour after I started the 1mg/twice per day dose which starts on day 8, but that stopped after a couple of days and no longer happens. I suppose I just got used to that dose. I am willing to try just about anything to stop smoking, except to continually put more nicotine into my body. I chose chantix because it helps break the not only the addiction to nicotine, which is gone within a couple of days after quitting, but also the "habit". I'll let you all know how it goes. This time I really am ready to quit... even though I am taking my boards in 3 days, I have been able to do this.:w00t:
  19. I am testing January 24th. I am really nervous about it. I have done 509 questions today on the Kaplan review course. I know 65 is the "number" to get. They say 65 and above is a sure thing to pass, but I am not comfortable with that grade. I got a 72 on the readiness test. It seems the more I study, the worse I do.
  20. I just finished nursing school... actually yesterday. I keep reading here that A students and 4.0 students seem to be failing nursing school. I was one of those A students. I was a software engineer for many years and decided to go to college to become an RN. I will be graduating with a 3.13 GPA. That stinks for me, but I will tell you, that most 4.0 students have great memories and can retain alot of information for tests. The problem is, critically thinking. I had the hardest time with this part of learning, because one answer doesn't fit all. Critical thinking cannot be taught to somebody simply. It is an acquired learning that takes experience and patience.... and your patient's lives are relying on you for it. I think the show "House" gives a pretty good example of this type of thinking. If you notice, most of the people trying to get a slot on his team are brilliant... but only the most superb "critical thinkers" will make it. Your teachers have to weed out the people that are unlikely to make it through the N-CLEX the first attempt. The schools accreditation relies on that. It is not the best system, but it is a reality.
  21. I want to work in a burn unit or in the E.D. I have been interested in burn for many years and have asked my clinical instructor for my final semester if there is any way I can get into the burn unit for my rotation. She is trying to accomodate me. It's amazing that once you start going through the clinicals though, that what you once thought you were interested in, suddenly doesn't seem to be what you wanted. I always thought I would love pedi and the l&d, but now that I have gone through it, it really doesn't interest me at all. I seem to like mostly OR, ED, trauma, ortho, med/surg type nursing.
  22. I would suspect that if you hold a RN license and keep it up to date, you can also be a Registered Nurse. I also think that the person would be considered "over qualified" by many HR managers if they knew you also had a NP license.
  23. You may not ask to train students, but you CHOSE to work in a teaching hospital
  24. I have been a CNA/PCA for one month now. I am starting Nursing III of the RN program in Jan. I thought by becoming a CNA it would expose me to the more compassionate side of nursing. I needed to be able to make this area of care easier on myself, and the patient. I am really glad I did too! I decided to accept a position with a hospital in a med/surg unit. I am currently at an LTC and really feel that a med/surg unit in a hospital will be far more valuable to my education at this point. The LTC promised to place me in the subacute area, but I seem to be in the long-term side more and more these days. I love the residents but want to learn more as I get through the second half of the nursing program. I think every nursing student would benefit enormously from a CNA experience. :)
  25. Could be tubal pregnancy. Those don't show up in urine tests. At least that was in my case.
