I'm tired of it! I had enough!
:yelclap: thank you for speaking the truth about working conditions for many, many nurses! every nurse should roll down the windows in their cars, put the windows up in their homes, go up to the rooftop, if necessary, and shout: "i'm tired of this sh*t, and i'm not going to take it anymore!! :angryfire ok, well, maybe that's taking things a bit far, but you get my sentiments. :wink2: you go girl! and may god bless you!

City w/Hosp You Can Walk To From Home?
i need your suggestions: can you recommend a small city or town with hospitals that you can walk to from home? i hate commuting :angryfire , and i'm looking for an environment that has less traffic, noise, and affordable housing would be a big plus. lots of trees, lakes, and beautiful scenery would be ideal. does this place even exist? :uhoh21: fyi: i'm a new grad looking for my first med/surg position. all suggestions are welcome! thank you! :)

Neighborhoods W/I Columbus- Input please
Affordability is number one! Is under $150k unreasonable for the Columbus area? For a city neighborhood, I like diversity, restaurants, parks, and a friendly, community atmosphere. This may sound odd, but I don't really like the suburbs, but I do like rural areas. So, if it's not feasible to live IN the city, any input about costs of homes in rural areas way OUTSIDE of the city? I don't mind a commute. Thanks! :)

Neighborhoods W/I Columbus- Input please
need recommendations for neighborhoods located within columbus i may be relocating to columbus, and i've see wonderful old houses within the city during my online search for housing. i've always wanted to restore an old house to its former glory, but i have concerns about overall conditions in the neighborhoods (crime, noise, litter, etc.) if you live in the city, or have lived in the city, can you recommend a good area to purchase an old home for renovation? if you think living in the city is a bad idea, let me hear from you also! all input is greatly appreciated! thank you! :)

what happened to big sign-on bonuses? :uhoh21: just a year ago big sign-on bonuses were making the news. hospitals were offering $10,000, cars, vacations, prizes :balloons: etc. anyone know what happened? do you know of any hospitals that are still offering bonuses? if you've received a bonus, any feedback on whether it was just a gimmick? thank you for all responses and input!

Will OT Comp Officially End after March?
since the bill passed congress, the department of labor will now be able to change the status of various job descriptions from non-exempt to exempt. nurses are targeted for this change as well. :stone from what i understand, that means that employers can then implement mandatory overtime without compensating employees at 1 1/2 times their regular hourly wage because employees would officially be paid on a salary basis. :angryfire anyone heard of any labor policy changes coming to their state or workplace at the end of march 2004? :uhoh21:

Baltimore- Do You Love It or Hate It?
baltimore: do you love it or hate it? i'm considering a job at maryland general hospital, but have some concerns about baltimore. it's been rated as one of the most dangerous cities in the u.s., yet i've also heard that baltimore is in the midst of a renaissance. i'd love to hear from anyone who has lived in baltimore, or currently lives in baltimore. give me the pros and the cons as you see them. thanks everyone!
