  1. Edwardcullen - Congrats for making it to the other side! Now if we could only find jobs. I am sure you will be a great nurse.
  2. I am in the exact same boat, and am very interested to hear what anyone has to say. I made a decision while in school to focus only on school and family, and not work. It paid off, my family has survived, my grades were excellent, and I am ready to get started, but it seems no one wants to put in the time with a new grad. Any tips on gaining experience while job hunting?
  3. edwardcullen - Skip the energy drinks, stick with a good breakfast and healthy snacks. You are making yourself crazy and need to relax! Take a walk to burn off your extra energy and help you sleep tonight. Are you driving to Merrillville or Indy? I took mine in Merrillville - very nice people there. Any chance you can drive today and stay near the site so you don't have to get up so early? You will be in my thoughts tomorrow, but I know you will do just fine.
  4. It sounds like you are as ready as you can be. Try to relax, take your time with each question, use your Kaplan strategies when you have to choose an answer you're not sure about. Expect to walk out feeling that you did a terrible job, and then be thrilled when you pass! I was able to get my results from my state board of nursing a day before Pearson was available, that saved me 24 hours of intense anxiety. Go to your BON website and search your name to see if a license has been assigned to you - it's pretty awesome to see your name with a license number next to it! Good Luck!
  5. Be careful not to overstudy just before the test - take a day off to clear your head. Also, be prepared to walk out feeling like you failed - but don't freak out! I felt completely prepared (did all the Kaplan), but then felt like a total failure during the test. Remember, you are getting about 50% of the questions wrong, and it's hard to feel like a success under those circumstances. Don't worry, you will pass!
  6. Check your state board of nursing website and search her name to see if a license has been issued in her name. I found out that I passed this way a day before Pearson let me know. Be sure to see if a license number is assigned to her. Good luck!
  7. It happens! The important thing is that you handled it exactly as you should have. It's likely that you will never make that mistake again and if a lesson was learned and no one got hurt, you have to move on. I am sorry you have such a heavy load - a major contributing factor and a real safety issue. Good luck - get back on the horse and take care of yourself.
  8. I graduated in December, just after turning 47. If this is what you feel called to do, it doesn't matter how old you are! There is something to be gained by having more life experience as you enter school. Good luck!
  9. I took Kaplan and felt really prepared and ready for NCLEX. However, fifteen minutes into NCLEX, and I felt like I was on a sinking ship. Still waiting for results, I will let you know if it actually helped. Good Luck!
  10. I took my exam today - 75 Q's, and I feel HORRIBLE! I took Kaplan and really felt prepared before I went in, but it didn't seem like it helped. I did great on the Kaplan tests, but the NCLEX Q's seemed like a foreign language. I will definately consider Suzanne's plan if I need too. DON'T GIVE UP!
