  1. ALL the course are 2 days.... the ones that I know of. I think the hospitals do recerts. Usually cost around 280-305$$$ plus manual. And it depends on your hospital if they'll pay. Some that I know of do and some don't!!! GOOD LUCK:wink2: HeatherDL
  2. WELLLLLLL........ Just a quick opinion.... I am a diploma RN with almost 4 yrs experience who works in a ER dept. One of my fellow RN's in precepting a student in her/his last yr NOT her/his consolidation though... And we find this with many of the student they don't know the basics... vitals on peds or BP's period, drug calculations, IV rate..... How is this??? It's crazy... it leaves a lot of responsiblilities to the nurses precepting these student because no body like to fail or suggest failing someone ... A lot of nurses I know have gone out of their way to make worksheets and case reviews to help teach the student but thats a lot and also VERY nice. HeatherDL
  3. Yeah....... If your close to Toronto try the mitchner insititute.... I KNOW they run it usually every other w/e or so. They also do PALS, NRP and lots more. Check it out. If your closer to Hamilton try McMaster.... they are holding the course Oct 28/29th which I will be attending:wink2: HeatherDL
  4. Thanks so much for the information...... thats awesome!!!!! The nurse manager that I had the interview with said that it would a very good idea if I had a car. And I really do not think thats possible, especially if I 'd only be there for 6 months. HeatherDL
  5. THanks for the info...... What do you think about needing a car??? HeatherDL:wink2:

  8. Hey .... well I must say I started my career as a new grad at sick kids and I am still there to this day a whole 3.5 yrs later (lol). Anyways it a great place to get started. They have a excellent orientation. Everyone there is VERY HELPFUL. There is a lot a room to grow there. And of course it is a teaching hospital. The peds population is amazing to work with. I really do enjoy it!!! Hope that helps a bit. HeatherDL
  9. Hey fellow Nurses, I am considering a job in the ER deptment @ Wilcox memorial hospital. I have never been to this island. So I would like some input from others mostly about the island. Be honest good or bad!!! Thanks HeatherDL
