  1. I am a new RN and where I work there are a couple of nurses on night shift who have refused to take shift report from me. One has her friend come and get report for her. She says its because of my perfume (which I don't wear). This was even confirmed by the nurse manager. They (these two nurses) when giving shift report will only say "nothing has changed"," they are still breathing" "I gave them their pain and nausea meds and they were fine" I mean we have some very critically ill patients with over half on vents. The nurse manager knows as she asked me to let her know if it happened again which I did What would other nurses do in this situation ?
  2. Yes, I know that I need at least a year but I am wondering which area would be the best to spend that first year. Thanks again
  3. I am getting ready to start my preceptor in January. Man nursing school has went by fast I want to become a travel nurse but I am wanting to find out which areas of the industry have the most need for travel nurses. So far I have liked ICU, ER and Ortho but I am not sure if those are areas that are in demand Also if anyone has any advice on choosing agencies I would greatly appreciate it. TIA!!
  4. can you give me an idea of the schedule for 2204. I just finished up my first 2 semesters in the accelerated program and start 2204 in August. Just wondering about how many days a week and clinicals Thanks Kat
  5. I had the same problems. I was in my clients room getting ready to do a cardiac check off and completely forgot everything. I went to the lab at school this week and I am going to go at it again. Anyone that sees me with my stethescope runs. I was so stressed I thought I was goign to be picked up off the floor. If anyone has any advice for handling check offs in clinical please pass them along.. I get so stressed
  6. Hi everyone this is the dilema that I am facing. Our Nursing 1101 is basical listed as one class. We have a total 7 books (not including study guides and reference books). We have a total of 6 tests for the entire semester. I am kinda stumped on what to do with my binders. So far gotten two (one for handouts and one for notes) but I am thinking about making each binder for three tests each and dividing it up into notes, handouts and lab info. I am very anal about my binders but I am stumped on what to do.
  7. Just to the college but make sure the Nursing department gets a copy of all your transcripts from your previous colleges(s). Offical transcripts or it will delay your application or worse your application could not be processed.
  8. hi everyone :welcome: i created a yahoo group for ghc nursing students and potential students. if you are interested in joining please go to [color=#9136ad]http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ghcnursing
  9. The computer course is offered online and its pretty easy I would take it before you are accepted. There is also a CLEP for it if you are very familiar with Office. Good Luck
  10. My mother, my aunt (her sister) and a niece have all had aneurysms. None had any symptoms other than a head ache. My mother survived hers my aunt didn't had a stroke on the table. My cousin just with in the past 2 years has had 5 aneurysms repaired. So definitely have her get this checked out. My sister and I go every 2 years for MRI's just to be safe. Although we can't find any medical evidence that aneurysms are genetic we do believe our family has a predisposition.
  11. They are the same. They will accept an applicant that doesn't have all their course work completed but if they have another applicant that has the same GPA with more course work completed they will take them first. Everyone that I know that has entered the program has all their pre-req's completed. You have to look at this way too, they had over 300 apply for little over 100 spots. The more course work you have completed the better off you will be.:balloons: Best of luck
  12. I have been accepted to GHC starting their accelerated RN program in Jan 08. You must complete the required pre-req's before you will be accepted, I believe there are 12. When they look at you application they only look at your GPA for the required coursed and its very competitive. Good luck.
