  1. Marty6001, Thank you for your quick response. In what state do you work? I also work Emergency Medicine. I am trying to expand my role in to the ICU and have to present documentation to the Credentials Committee that I am not the only APN in the state (or world) that would be doing invasive procedures. mr2np
  2. I am hoping to get some feed back for this question, especially from New York state based APN's. What procedures (central lines, a-lines, intubation, moderate sedation, etc) are you able to be credentialed for by your hospital? I work in a moderate sized community hospital with antiquated medical staff policies. I am hoping to expand my credentials to include the above listed procedures, but must document that other facilities offer their APN's these types of procedures. Additionally, what process did you have to undertake to add any of these to your credential list (test, minimum number of supervised procedures, etc.) If willing or able could you share any links to policy/ procedure manuals, or be open to a PM discussion.
  3. I got the call from Montgomery/ Tornetta two days ago. The department secretary told me that the next round of interviews will be starting sometime in the Fall of 2008 and will be for students to start Fall 2011. I was asked if I still wnated to interview and was told I will be called "at a later date" to schedule.
  4. FYI- I spoke with the Dean of SUNY Upstate's College of Nursing on 5/18/07. As of that date the start of the CRNA program is being pushed back to Fall 2009. The first cohort will consist of only 5 students.
  5. CoburnRN, I was wondering where you have obtained information about a program at SUNY Upstate. I had heard a rumor about a year ago and have been looking for any information, but to no avail. If you have any links or contact names I would greatly appreciate the information.
  6. You can try this link. http://distance.une.edu/organic/ There is also a biochem class, you can start anytime, not waiting for the traditional start of a semester.
  7. I'm a Nurse Practitioner trying to figure out how to afford to go back to school. I have wanted to be a CRNA since I was in my Associates Nursing program. Is anyone aware of any grants, unusual loan programs, anesthesia group sponsorships, etc? I can do this only if I can find a way to replace part of my income while in school. A part-time job won't bring enough for school, mortgage, teenager, and the like. I'd appreciate any suggestioins or ideas out there.
