I work 11p-7a, so I usually am not present for our community meeting. We have the community meeting after breakfast, because people are out of bed and in one place... We cover the rules, talk about respecting staff and peers, the activities of the day, and then we ask the patients if there is any thing we could do to make their stay better or more comfortable. I hear that this has really helped our pat satification rating. It is a good time for patients to voice their opinions and really get things changed. Hope this helps.

If that is the kind f person you are (giving), then do it! I am sure the gift will be appreciated. I am a new nurse and I just started my career as a psych nurse on Oct 13th. I was welcomed by great nurses that have made me feel at home. Good luck

My maiden name is Nissen and it is easy to tell when someone says Nis-N compared to Nissan... lol I work in a pharmacy and I have heard some really creative names for meds, such as New-rotten (neurontin), & Glue-fa-lodge (Glucophage). One day a new cashier took a refill request from a patient and handed it to me. It said that Matt Foreman needed his Glucophage... hehe. I guess the patient had given her the namebrand (Glucophage) and generic (Metformin) name!
