  1. 1. Keep the bed up 2. Use your leg muscles as best as you can 3. Use your arm muscles 4. Drink lots of coffee before work After doing the CNA thing for a few weeks you will find muscles in your arms and legs working much better for you than before. You will become accustomed to the work required, and will look back at your first days and laugh at how difficult it is. Chalk it up to a learning experience
  2. I took my CNA skill test about a month ago, and I passed. I thought for sure after i left the room, that i had done great, however, when I got home, I was reading the skills packet and realized that I never put the bed brakes on! THere were 2 skills that required moving a patient, and I forgot to do it. In retrospect, the bed didn't even have visible brakes, it was an old bed. Well I Freted for a couple weeks, when Lo and Behold I got in the mail, my CNA liscence. I am now a certified nurses assistant. The test wasn't too difficult. THen again, the volunteer patient was this funny middle age man who kept giving me hints, and he kept laughing. The nurse who was evaluating kept telling him to "knock it off"...... anyway you should do fine. Just remember the 3 C's at the end... Call light, Curtain, Clean hands
  3. I am starting nursing school in the fall and have been a CNA for almost 3 months. I really am glad that I chose to do the CNA work first. I wasn't totally sure if I wanted to go the route of nursing, however, after working as a CNA I feel as though it has confirmed my career choice. I have gaiend confidence with myself, as well as my ability to deal with the medical profession. I feel as though my experience as a server prepared my for my work as a CNA, in that I was responsible for meeting the needs of multiple individuals. I had to learn to prioritize, and that has been useful in answering call lights and determining which patient needs the most care first. I feel as though the CNA work will help prepare me for the job duties of a nurse, as well as give me insight to the CNA's I will be working with in my future career!
