  1. I agree with the reply: If they did not send you the certified letter, then you are not on probation. They can throw around that term it they want to, but I would make it clear (pleasantly) that no such letter was received and they appear to be separating from written policy. You are obviously a conciencious student, so just remember all this frustation will be over soon. Good luck!
  2. Hi! I'm glad that info was helpfull. If the work experience had nothing to do with nursing (like fast food or retail--don't laugh, I did that when I was earning my undergraduate degree)--then no- I would not include them. If it was volenteer work or working with children (teacher's aide) then I would include it. I hope this helps.
  3. Hi! I would include certifications and volunteer work. Good luck!
  4. I am an ANP and work in the hospital 95% of my day. Prior to this I worked in another acute care setting- cardiovascular and thoracic surgery for several years. I really like this setting. You have your list of patients with an understanding of additional patients and interuptions to your day (transfers/discharges). The patients get to know you and are generally appreciative of your care. There's a great amount of autonomy and flexability. Good Luck
  5. You might want to mention to management the risk for increased falls (both patient and staff) with wet floors. Falls equal money, whether it's increase length of stay for patients or injury/disabilty for staff.
  6. That sounds painful. I work for a private practice, but most of my time is spent rounding in the hospital. Most times when I call a physician's office for a consult I get the distict pleasure of being asked who is the physician requesting the consult. I usually say I'm requesting it : Redhen C.N.P. The speciallist we consult are fairly cordial. And, let's face it the smart ones know who spends most of her time in the hospital and act cordially- it might get them preference for consults.
  7. Congrats!!!! In VA you apply for prescriptive priviledges from the state board-- a form you download for their web site, complete, and your employers sign. This gets approved and you get a pres. priveledge # from the board. For your DEA #- download the form from their website-complete it and submit check (hopefully your employer's money). Best of luck!!
