  1. Hi guys.... I need a little guidance. I FINALLY passed my psych NP boards (hardest test of my life. I don't EVER want to go through that nausea again...) this week and I can't seem to find the process of what to do next. I know I wait for my ANCC certificate and then apply to the state nursing board for license but can't find out about applying for a DEA number. I am in GA so I know we just got prescriptive privileges but even on the GA nurses assoc. site I can't find any info. My friend in California said she had to do 500 extra hours of supervised medication practice before she could apply. Is it like that everywhere? I thought our pharmacology ciriculum took care of that. I would appreciate any help at all.....thanks so much.
  2. Dude, I made a 4.0 in my masters program and failed my Nurse practitioner certification exam three times. Talk about thinking I was a dummy. I got my letter on Friday that said I passed. You CAN do it. Just don't give up.
  3. Hi there. Glad to hear you are considering the service again. I have been an Army for ten years and still going. I can retire(was enlisted for ten too) but I like it so much I am going to stay as long as they will have me. My HN is a single parent and she has been deployed twice to Iraq. In the Army you have to have a good support plan to take care of your child so you can work. If you come in as a 2LT you will get rotating shifts and the like until you make a little rank and get a better job. You may get a job like in a clinic where you have decent hours but that might be the exception. If you have family maybe they could help out. It would be hard but you could do it. I have worked as a civilian also and being in the service is so much better in my opinion. You are part of something larger than yourself. Not to mention are all the benefits. The Army paid for my BSN and my masters as a psych NP. Of course you know better than anyone that serving has the deployments also and that is the down part as long as we are at war. I'm not a recruiter or anything but I really like being in uniform. I think the benefits far outweigh the downside. Hope this helps.
  4. Thanks so much HappyJax for your support. I can take it again in 90 days so that should be plenty of time but I am hoping to find more material to study for all those "fringe" area practice questions.
  5. just recieved my very, very disappointing letter that I failed my ANCC Psych NP boards. I made straight A's in school and this failure feels HUGE right now. I guess I am in disbelief and mini-crisis right now. I studied pretty good and did well on the clinical stuff but there were a lot of questions on risk mgt, case mgt, utilization mgt, etc. that I had no material to study. I found a lot of prep courses for family Np's but none out there for psych NP's. Does anyone know of any material out there designed for Psych NP's? I only failed by 6 questions so I was close. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I feel so bad right now. My co-workers really look up to me and I will be embarrased to tell them. Thanks so much.
