  1. I have only been in the ER for 2 weeks and I have heard "I've been throwing up since (pick a day)" I ask well how many times have you thrown up today? Reply "Oh I haven't thrown up since yesterday" WHAT? It is 5,6 pm !!! Amazes me and then say "Can you get me something to eat I feel better" I have seen this every shift I have worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. I finished my 3rd 12 hr shift today 7a-7p ...actually my 1st 3 days in the ER and I am actually loving it! I wonder though how long of orientation most ppl had? I was (of course) with a preceptor all three days but I did get to a TON on my own and everyone has been great to help me since I have never done ER but I am actually feeling alot more comfortable already than I ever dreamed....Even as hectic as today was I was still OK:uhoh3:. I think I am going to get 4-6 weeks is this about average?
  3. Just a quick update on my move to the ER...I LOVE IT!!!!! It has been awesome! I finished my 2nd day today 7a-7p and had 2 rooms by myself because they said I did so well!!!!! It was a constant, steady busy and alot was clinical but it was fast paced yesterday and today and I made it!!! Thanks to all for the encouragement!!
  4. Prayers for you and your family

  7. I have been a LPN for 15 years finished RN school in May 06. I have always worked in LTC at night mostly and handled the trauma, drama, etc that goes along with it. I am going to be starting in the ER in a week and I am terrified and excited at the same time! I have had ACLS took a EKG class in school and have more nsg books than should be allowed by law I have always wanted to try the ER and now I have my chance and I am so scared!! I have been reviewing my EKG books, IV meds , peds etc but I am afraid I will not know something. I am a little OCD as I think most nurses are but I am so hard on myself I always think I should know things yesterday. I have taken a EMT Basic class and love that excitement also. My husband thinks I will love it and be great but is this normal to be so scared? Any advice at all will be so appreciated!!
  8. I know ppl that went to Troy and to Wallace in Selma. I went to Wallace. I graduated in May 06 and no matter where you go the pre-req's are YUCK! I know all nursing programs in the state are supposed to be the same now right? Wallace only has ADN but doesn't Troy have BSN and ADN? Is there any difference with the pre-req's at Troy? I personally loved Wallace. It was a hard school but we had ppl drive 1-2.5 hrs daily just to go there. Just my 2 cents!
