Please stop making that sound !
I too suffer with seasonal allergies and the same sounds that send me up the wall are some of the same sounds that I make myself, and I'm sure they probably send some folks up the wall as well (especially when my throat is itching). I am a Private Duty Nurse (so I do work at a home in a sense). Im not trying to be rude or anything but sounds just get to me that's all.

Please stop making that sound !
I understand its allergy season, but how do you cope with being around people who are constantly snorting and clearing their throats? I have always been highly sensitive of certain noises and sounds but some things just drive me crazy. I have Misophonia or Selective Sound Sensitivity Syndrome (I didn't realize their was a name for it until recently). Its more than just a pet peeve. Things that drive me insane are: gum chewing, smacking, crunching, slurping, snoring, even something as simple as someone clinking a spoon against a bowl or plate. Going out to eat at a restaurant is always an uncomfortable experience for me. It seems like everything is in overdrive now. I feel like certain people that I am around and know that I cant stand certain sounds go out of their way to just irritate me. Does anyone else deal with this on a daily basis and how do you cope with it or not let it bother you?

skirts to work
Hey, I have been a nurse for 23 years and I only wear skirts, and I wear them with my white support stockings (hence the name). I order my skirts from a site online, they are neither too long or too short. I can purchase them in any color and I have several styles that I can choose from. I have worked in a variety of settings over the years and have not encountered any problems by wearing skirts. It's no big deal, and it's my personal choice, and I am not bothered by the vast majority of nurses that only wear pants.

Excelsior Package Pricing Option to be Discontinued
I recently just applied to Excelsior College for the ADN Program, and I am awaiing my unofficial evaluation. I received this Email today regarding their pricing package opton which will be discontinued. I'm just trying to understand clearly what this means. Earlier this year Excelsior College introduced a Package Pricing Option for associate degree in nursing students. In keeping with our mission of access, our intent in offering this payment option was to encourage students to begin their nursing studies early on by "packaging" the cost of our nursing theory examinations with other fees. By using this plan, we believed that students would engage in their studies earlier all while having full access to our academic advisors and the various student and academic support services we provide. Over the past months we have heard from students that the Package Pricing Option was actually an impediment that has had an opposite effect, causing them to delay enrollment. The Excelsior College School of Nursing is one of only 13 Centers of Excellence in Nursing Education nationwide as designated by the National League for Nursing. We know that the most successful students are those who are actively working toward completing their degrees and are accessing our many support services which are available only to enrolled students. Because it appears it may be a barrier, we are discontinuing the Package Pricing Option for our associate degree in nursing program. If you want this payment option you will need to enroll with the College by close of business on Friday, October 2, 2009. Of course, our Standard Fee plan will continue to be available. We will continue to explore ways to make our associate degree in nursing program as affordable as possible, including alternative payment plans. Until another option is available, beginning October 3, 2009, only our Standard Fee schedule will be in effect. As in the past, monthly payment plans are available to help budget your educational expense. ~White Stockings~

I worked night shift with a nurse that would always sing "Show me the way to go home, I'm tired and I want to go to bed" :zzzzz when we would be getting off in the mornings. I dont know who made that song.

Terminated or dismissed from Job by a letter or E-mail
Thanks to everyone who has reponded to this thread. Just to give you a quick update I have been trying to get in contact with my supervisor since I received my letter of discharge from my job two days ago but guess what my supervisor is on VACATION :angryfire (I hope she is reading this thread)! What upset me the most isn't so much the message, but the way the message was delivered. Well just a little background about myself. I have been an LPN for the past 20 years and have been employed in Home Health with the same employer for the past 9 years. To make a long story short they are letting all of the LPN's go, and the way I found out was by a letter that I received in my mailbox (at home) yes, no phone call or face-to-face meeting or anything. I just had a face-to-face meeting with my supervisor on Friday, and she didnt say anything to me at all about any changes they would be making (I received the letter in the mail this past Wednesday). I did finish out this week and technically I still have three weeks to go and I would like to go out gracefully if I can, but I'm not so sure if I can last that long . I just hate having to start all over again I mean with looking for a job and getting insurance . ~Whitestockings~

Terminated or dismissed from Job by a letter or E-mail
Has anyone ever received your termination or job dismissal by an e-mail or letter? I just got the letter in the mail on this morning stating in so many words that my employment would be terminated at the end of the month related to issues concerning cutbacks in budgets and reimbursement. I haven't yet spoken with anyone by phone or in person as I am trying to decide how to handle it calmly:angryfire. ~WhiteStockings~
