  1. I'm right there with you, I too was under the impression that LPNs cannot assess, teach, or evaluate, however I have done numerous practice questions in which the answers involve the LPNs assessing or teaching. It does seem that the LPN may be able to teach about basic things such as deep breathing, MDI use ect. I am still a bit confused though, because I did a question that indicated the LPN can do neurovascular assessments for a patient with a casted extremity, I thought that was the RNs job, I guess they are implying this is data collection, something a LPN can do
  2. Tell me about it. The anxiety is killing me too! I take mine on the 17th and am really freaking out. This morning I felt like I had to re-read everything all over again. But the way I see it is, we can do it. Many people have passed the NCLEX, and yeah, a few people have failed, but I know I prepared as good as I could and I know the information. There should really be no reason I fail...just trying to think positively. Good luck! :) Plus, some anxiety is a good thing, it drives us to work harder.
  3. I understood that N95 was for all airborne diseases. However I'm a little confused about something, if the nurse is varicella immune or rubeola immune is an N95 mask still needed?
  4. Can a nurse delegate VS to a CNA for a patient who is in DKA every 15 minutes or should the nurse do this herself?
  5. Hi everyone, I was wondering what kind of scores everyone is getting from doing these questions. I havent been doing all that well, my scores have ranged from 50%-90% and the 50% is kinda freaking me out because i test next week!!
  6. I'm going to eat like crazy!! And cry a lot!!!! Happiest moment of my life...
  7. No, it must be the same organism.
  8. I agree, the patient must keep pressure off the affected side. If the procedure involved administering a gas to form a seal of the retina the patient must be positioned prone and turn the head so the unaffected eye is down (saunders 906 3rd ed).
  9. I would have guessed that the nurse should wear gloves too...because that is part of the standard precautions..."if splashes or sprays of blood body fluids, secretions, or excretions are expected a gown must be worn." Here is another fact I found kinda interesting... If the nurse is varicella/rubeola immune protective masks do not need to be worn. Does that sound right??
  10. Great thread!! 1) Droplet room assignment: Preferably private, if not available roomate with same illness and same pathogen. And if thats not an option 3 feet away from roomate with the curtain pulled. 2) When transporting a patient with airborne precautions (for essential purposes only) they must wear a surgical mask.
  11. Congrats!!! I'm using Suzanne's plan too, and it's great to hear encouraging words like that!
  12. Hi secretname, I'm taking mine in 2 weeks too in Anahiem! On the 17th. Im totally freaking out. I was even considering moving my test date sooner just because I want to get this over with!! Good luck!
  13. Thanks! These darn NCLEX questions are killing me!!!!!!!
  14. Hi everyone, I have quick question that arose while studying for NCLEX. If a patient comes to the ER with left anterior chest pain, poss. unstable angina or MI what nursing action do you take first? auscultate breath sounds, administer nitro, insert IV cath, or obtain a brief patient health hx. I went with obtain a patient history to determine if the patient had taken nitro x3 at home before being admitted, so you dont OD the patient on nitro. Apparently the answer is administer nitro first...is nitro OD not an issue with possible MI?? Thanks
  15. I didnt think nurses have to wear N95 masks for droplet precautions...can anyone clear this up?
  16. Hi Guys, The big day is July 17th for me, and before then I need to clear something up. When you have a question about delgation and the question states that there are 2 CNAs, 1 LPN, and 1 RN and you must choose which patient to assign to the LPN; there are 4 answers to choose from and they all look like they could go to the LPN so you choose your best answer. Are you assuming that the ones that werent chosen are taken care of by the nursing assistants and the 1 RN available? Sorry if this question is a little confusing, bear with me, I've been studying for 30 days straight 4-6 hours a day and feel like I'm going coocoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :chuckle:no:
  17. Thanks everyone for explaining. And no, I wasnt being silly.
  18. Hi I'm studying from crammaster for NCLEX and one of the questions is as follows... A patient that suffered a burn 3 days ago is recovering on your unit and the urine output continues to remain at 26 ml/hr. What order do you anticipate the doctor giving? A) Increase IV fluids B) Decrease IV fluids C) Change the IV fluid to a different solution D) Change the urinary catheter The answer is A. I dont understand why the doctor would want to increase fluids if the patient is in possible renal failure. Can someone explain. Thanks.
  19. I'm starting my third semester in the fall and thank god I'm done with second! It was sooooo hard! I was studying at least 6 hours a day and nursing was all I had time to think about. At my school it was med surg and OB. Although it was tough, OB was awsome! There is nothing like seeing the birth of a child. Im excited to move on though...to something easier :)
