Noise on the Night Shift
Has anyone had any luck reducing the amount of noise on your unit at night? My floor is constantly getting marked down on their Press Ganey scores because of noise levels at night. I started with posting signs on the unit. Our biggest problem is that the nurses station is right next to the patient rooms. Any ideas??

What does the assistant manager do on your telemetry unit?
I just took an assistant manager position myself. Sounds like a lot of the same funtions chart audits patient and staff complaints level one discipline interviews going to meetings. I dont do payroll or staffing as we have a secretary who does this. I would rather do that myself as I did at my old job but thats the way the hospital works it here.

What does the assistant manager do on your telemetry unit?
I have just started working as the assistant manager on my unit (telemetry). This is my second time in this role. I worked at another hospital doing this. So far I'm doing scheduling no payroll but did that at prior facility. Level one discipline. Inservices, chart audits, going to meetings. Rounding on patients to see if they have complaints or going to them if thet already have complaints and of course listening to whatever the staff is upset about at the moment. Not a bad gig and a good way to move up in the company.

CE credits
At least in MI the CE credits do not have to be turned into anyone. You just keep record of them yourself and the state does random audits. Most web sites have an area where you print out your certificate of completion and that's your proof. Some sites also keep a record of the courses you have taken. Here are some sites for free ceus I have found... http://www,medi-smart.com/freeceu http://www.wirldiris.com http://www.allnurses.com
