At Brookwood new grads are receiving approx. $18.50 to start. It was just increased from $18.10 in Oct-Nov '05. I don't know if compensation will get any better since the problems have arisen with Tenet owing big bucks for Medicare fraud. Starting salary isn't the best, but the benefits seem to be better than at some other local hospitals. Regarding loans... First, consolidate your loans into one. Brookwood will repay most nursing loans (contact their HR dept for details) at $400/mo, but will repay no more than $12,000 total (this # might have changed recently). You must work there 90 days before even filing for loan repayment. You must submit proof to HR that you are paying $400 (or whatever amount) towards your loan every month. Then it takes another 2-3 months for them to file paperwork (make sure they have all the paperwork they need or it will take even longer). You will see the money on your paycheck each pay period and it's your responsibility to send the payments to Citibank or whoever has consolidated your loans. Good luck!!!
