  1. so what is the role of 'visa screen' ? If I pass neclex and get a job, then can't I just get the visa without 'visa screen'?????????????
  2. Sorry everyone, but after reading all the threads on visa screen, I am still not clear. (1) Once I get the visa sceen, which immigration form do I fill to apply for green card, is it I-140 filed by me? (2) For the employer (texas) to file I-140, they would require NCLEX, but without the SS#, can they offer me a job? (3) I think, I am wondering if I can get a green card based on visa screen without a US nursing job while in a foreign country. Please help!
  3. Yeah, I was thinking that myself that if I mess it up than USCIS can make it very difficult in future. But, on the other hand, if I just fill the I-140 and submit it, then they could just ask for more information, or, reject it without any harm. Why do you think it can be very expensive? I can fill that form and mail it to uscis with the check and what ever else it requires. Lawyers charge $800 to fill the same form, I do not understand what do they do so different than what anyone can do? Reminds me of those traffic ticket lawyers who charge you $100 for doing what you can do yourself by walking up to the window. Right?
  4. I posed this question to an attorney, and this is his response: Any comments anyone? Sounds good and encouraging to me. I think I will proceed. "If the position is for an RN and you can document the funds to pay, I would think that this is possible."
  5. thanks Kathy. I am in Texas and they require nclex for getting RN license, but, I am desparate for the visa so, I am willing to try all options. hmmm, nclex easier than CGfns ? that is really good news. Are you in philippines?
  6. I am in the same boat, but I think I am going to use CGFNS as a back-up plan, so that if I flunk nclex, i can take cgfns cp exam and hopefully pass (since many people say that it is easier than nclex) and then at least get my visa screen. Never burn your bridges and always keep a back up plan....just my thought
  7. I am an individual in Texas and I have a severly handicap + mentally retarded child. Can I file a I-140 for a foreign nurse who has done all cgfns (CES+VISA/SCREEN) and NCLEX and speaks a language that the whole family can communicate with her, (which We could not find locally -advertized on craigslist for 1 month) ? I saw that I-140 can be filed by individual, but does anyone has experience with this? Please help!

  9. Thanks Art, It is hard to find an employer who would do the immigration. Besides, she will be in US on VWP (visa waiver program) in which one is not allowed to change visa status. I thought that even if we file an incomplete I-140, uscis can give us a filing date, so that by the time our turn comes, the NCLEX etc will be ready.
  10. Hello All, I hear conflicting opinions in whether the I-140 be filed before doing the NCLEX license, etc. Is it possible to file I-140 while I am working on my NCLEX? This way by the time they call me, I would have the NCLEX, visa screen, and hopefully a job! Also, is it MUCH better to get a job where the employer does the immigration Vs me doing it myself? My friend lives in Texas and that is where I will be living, he can file the I-140 + fees etc if this can be done. PLEASE HELP! We are new to this and have already made mistakes with CGFNS that has cost us lots of wasted time. After doing this entire process, I can perhaps start a nursing agency! (ha ha).
