Our nursing school must think that the Kaplan review is good. All graduating students can now take the Kaplan review free- it's paid for with our tuition! You bet I'm taking it. I want all the help I can get.

I'm a 4th semester DelMar nursing student. You can take the CNA exam after you have "demonstrated competency in providing basic nursing skills in accordance with the schools curriculum." That's from the Texas Department of Aging and Disability, the agency that credentials CNA's. http://www.dads.state.tx.us/providers/NF/credentialing/nar/faq_nar.html The program is not set up for you to become a LVN after the first two semesters. Good luck with the program! I really like the program & the instructors @ DelMar.

Go For It. I'll be 53 when I graduate in May 09 as a RN. Us "older" students bring a wealth of knowledge, experience of the workplace, and working with others to nursing. ( I'm NOT patting my back!) The options for diversified nursing positions are immense. The need is there due to us aging baby boomers. It's a great opportunity for a rewarding second career. Go For It.

Texas A&M and Del Mar College both in Corpus Christ, TX have online RN programs. A&M is a BSN program and Del Mar is an ADN program. Some of the students live in other states. One even lives in WA and works in AK! Some go to Corpus Christi, TX to do their clinicals and some make arrangements with their local hospitals. Check it out.
