  1. i work in labor and delivery but my coworkers on the med-surg floor do everything except sign the initial assessment and push meds.

    I'm just curious how what the pit protocol is at other facilities. We once had a doctor who thought running pit up to 40 was okay. we didnt agree. he even said we could go up to 60 if cervical changes were not being made, he never worried about hyperstim... wondering if anyone else has seen doctors so aggressive and possibly dangerous with pitocin orders.

  4. i once had a young, primip push for an hour, when the doctor came in , he checked her and laughed. he called me out of the room and informed me that she was only 5 cm. he told me to recheck and reach extremely posterior, when i did, i felt the plain as day 5cm cervix, talk about embarrassing. especially since the poor girl was now completely exhausted. after that, i've always reached as posterior as possible before declaring anyone complete
