Hi, First of all, good luck to you!!! To find out whether you passed you would need to wait 3 business days and then go to the California Board of Registered Nursing web site and click on Online Services (www.rn.ca.gov/online). Once there, search by last and first names under permanent license verification. Now, DO NOT PANICK OR ASSUME THAT YOU FAILED if your name does not appear within 3 business days. 2 of my classmates (we just graduated from a BSN program in May) freaked out and sent in re-testing applications only to find their names posted 2 weeks later. I heard from people who graduated earlier that sometimes it takes even longer. The main reason for the delay is that folks at the BRN misplace transcripts of new graduates quite often. Also, all of us had any number of questions: myself and a few others had 75; one poor guy had 265 (he passed); others had over 100 or 80 something. So far, 12 people who I know took NCLEX all passed!!! So, relax, do lots of practice questions and aim to pass!!!:balloons:

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? I was cut off after 75 qs. 2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course? I used Davis review 2nd edition+took Review for Nurses which Sally Lagerquist offers (very helpful); I also purchased 3 weeks of NCSBN's online review www.learningext.com. All 3 were extremely helpful. Highly recommend. 3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? HESI; passed with a high score from the first try. 4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? I took the test on 6/14 and my name was posted online on 6/17 on California BRN 5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? I thought I did well; I remembered a 3-4 questions that I thought I had answered wrong, but other than that, no panic... 6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? YES.

Hi, I hope you pass! I took NCLEX on 6/14 and was cut off after 75 questions. The questions were tough and packed with clinical content. They were getting more and more difficult up until I reached the 60s, then they evened out. Most were on prioritization of assessments/discharge, etc. 6-7 were "select all that apply", lots on pediatrics, lots on infection control/infectious diseases. I had no math questions, unfortunately, because it is easy for me... I think I was the only one who walked out of the exam feeling that I did OK (and I did - I passed!). Given that I am a book-smart nerd, my friends/family weren't surprised... To prepare, I took Sally Lagerquist (Review for RNs; she is the editior of Davis NCLEX book) review and then studied and did practice questions ad nauseam. Additionally I purchased 3 weeks of NCLEX learning extention (learningext.com) tutorial, which was extremely helpful!!! It has lots of great practice questions and content review. I had to take HESI back in February and scored very highly in it; it is supposed to be an acurate predictor of passing/failing NCLEX. SOOOO glad it's over and now I am enjoying my last few weeks of freedom before I start my first REAL RN job in a big MSICU in San Francisco. Good luck!:biggringi
