Need advice from previous and current Charity Students
As far as lecture goes I never stayed unless the teacher went over, which can happen but not too often and nothing too excessive. One thing to consider is that i think you usually have to go to your clinical site the day before clinicals to pick up your patient assignment. Say you have clinicals tues/wed on monday after lecture you would go to the hospital and find your assigned patient's chart. then you have to hand write their health history, current treatments, meds etc. then you have to go home and research all of their meds and do care maps etc. it can take hours. this is how it was for my group and i think most others. you'l need lots of study time as well so as much free time from the kids will be helpful. good luck!

CSN 1 week down !
Kozier & Erb's Fundamental's of Nursing is the main book we have been using so far. just started pharmacology and the teacher had notes posted online for us so i haven't even looked at the book yet actually. They give pretty thorough notes for the other classes too. They give you a schedule for the whole semester that shows what they will be lecturing each day. (they've stuck to schedule so far) so you can print out notes way ahead of time and read those and textbook before class. there are textbook reading assignments in the notes that they give you. Fundamentals Success by Nugent & Vitale is a book you should probably get and start reading before semester. i don't feel too overwhelmed at this point. but ask me after test on monday and i may have a different opinion. i know how it is for you though. once i found out i was accepted to charity i immediately started wondering what it would be like and what to expect. congrats.

Student to Student CSN
thanks for the info. how much is the parking at st joseph's? that $1 lot that campus police mentioned sounds tempting because parking fees add up quickly. i don't mind the walk when weather is okay. i spent like $16 in 3 days, friday i just parked on the street and fed the meter.

Student to Student CSN
I was at student to student. there wasn't really any great info that wasn't provided during orientation. just the we are family, work together, study, stay organized and focused etc. i didn't use the cat walk thing because i wasn't sure which parking lot it goes to or where it connects to the school. so i just left it alone for now. is it a pay by the hour lot? i know if you are on the perdido side of the school and are walking on the street u can walk into the garage and go through a door where there are basement level elevators. that was a little easier than waiting in the lobby.

CSN Financial Aid
fortunately i've been able to pay all of the expenses so far, and just paid 1/3 of tuition so my classes will be held. i've applied for financial aid but haven't heard anything yet. but yeah i plan on doing loans since i've quit my job. i'd love it if i qualified for grants.

Charity Jan '08 ACCEPTANCE came today
yeah i got the NSO stuff together i just have to get it together with the health insurance stuff. i've mostly been trying to read the fundamentals success book. i've heard it's a good idea to read b/c everyone i've talked to that went to charity said the most difficult part is the tests are tricky.

Charity Jan '08 ACCEPTANCE came today
hello to all. i'm mostly excited for now. clinicals is what makes me sort of nervous but hopefully by then i'll feel comfortable enough with my instructor and i wont be too nervous. i plan on going to student to student, i've heard some say it is a waste of time and gas, but i've heard others say u can get a lot of valuable info so i think i'll go. can't hurt. i got most of my books, still waiting on a couple more to come in. i ordered uniforms, still have to get rest of supplies. still waiting to hear from financial aid. the biggest thing is i just found out my health insurance was canceled. does anyone know when i have to show proof of health insurance? i think it is supposed to be turned in right in the beginning but i think i remember reading it has to be given in time for clinicals. has anyone used the student insurance they recommend? if so, how long did it take to get the policy?

Charity Jan '08 ACCEPTANCE came today
I would have to look back in my packet for dates (i'm horrible remembering dates obviously) but I think I did advising some time in March, then advanced registration was in April. I could be way off but I know it was way ahead of when the semester actually started. So be sure to do 'advanced' registration b/c if you miss that you risk losing your spot. And to register online you have to be sure you have submitted a regular Delgado application to get onto the website. (unless your are currently taking classes I believe) There were two separate background checks, one for state board of nursing and one that allowed us into hospitals for clinicals I believe. I had to do two sets of fingerprints. St Tammany Parish courthouse did mine for free. There were several forms to be filled out and lists of supplies and info of all sorts. Pay close attention to what things have to be done by what date, it can get confusing. Some things like CPR and physical and that stuff has to be done by a certain date but also shouldn't be done too early. But yeah hopefully we will get that packet soon so I can do a detailed, organized schedule of when and what to do and start buying supplies.

Charity Jan '08 ACCEPTANCE came today
has anyone gotten anything else for the Jan '08 semester? when is advising?? I was originally accepted for Fall '07, I did advising, background checks and all, but missed advanced registration and lost my spot for Fall '07. I got my acceptance letter for Jan '08 and confirmed but haven't gotten anything else. Just wanted to see if anyone else has gotten any other mailing to be sure I dont mess up this semester! Thanks.

Missed Charity Registration
I missed out on early registration. I can't believe I did that. Anyway, I spoke to one person at Charity who said I had to speak to another, and that person is out of the office. The person who answered the phone mentioned that classes could be full. I asked how that could be considering I was accepted and she said they accept more than they have room for. I have already done the finger printing, gotten books paid for, all of the background checks etc. Is there a chance I may not even get to attend this semester?? Any info would be appreciated. I have been working so hard to get into this program and I'm now freaked out that I may have screwed myself over!!

Anyone else worried???
i have a friend who made lower than 115 on the PAX and she got in for the fall semester and i've heard of others getting in that barely made above the 100. so your score is pretty good. i know the wait it tough though. good luck.

Class Schedules @ Delgado
I will be starting the program this fall. I didn't know any online classes were offered. Do you recommend the online class? I've taken several online classes and did well but I dont want to risk not doing well in any of my CSN classes. Do fell online class prepares you well enough for the tests? Thanks for any insight.

Charity acceptance for Fall '07?
sorry to hear you didn't get in for fall. i'm not sure how far along you are with prereqs, but there are some classes that can be taken while in the program but can also be taken prior to acceptance (like micro of human pathogens i think??) if so it's a good opportunity to get those out of the way. if not then don't be discouraged. i wanted to get in for spring 07 but i'm glad i didn't because i would not have been quite ready to give it my all. i know it's frustrating but just try to believe everything happens for a reason. i'm sure you'll get in next go round if you don't go into another program.

CSN Day Classes vs. Evening Classes
in the application package they listed crime stats for CSN property/students or something and there was like almost none. everyone i speak with says it's very difficult to work while in the program. i wanted to maybe work some part time but i'm going to wait and see. i already got accepted for day division though. someone at CSN said that i may have a chance to switch divisions before i start but i still dont know what kind of schedule the evening division involves. maybe you could try just working early mornings or something...? i had the same dilemma.

Did anyone get PAX scores yet???
It took a little over 5 weeks for me to get my PAX scores I think.

Charity acceptance for Fall '07?
I called Charity and spoke with someone and she said that all letters were sent out on the 15th of December. I assumed I hadn't gotten in but I still called a different number that she gave me and I actually got through to someone. She said that I had been accepted and a letter was sent. She said many people haven't received letters because of the holiday mail. So if your still waiting on a letter I suggest keep calling or maybe go down there. Or just keep your fingers crossed and keep waiting. I wouldn't think it would take that long for a letter to reach Slidell but they verified my mailing address and it was correct. Good luck to anyone still waiting.

Charity acceptance for Fall '07?
I took my PAX in June 2006 then applied in July 06. I haven't heard anything yet. I know a few people that just got accepted and they had lower PAX scores and GPA. Does anyone know if they are still in the process of sending out letters? Do they usually send them out all at once or in phases? I'm getting nervous now hearing that others are getting letters. I want one too!!

Anyone trying to get early admission to Charity?
I talked to admissions and she said they already filled january that it would be the fall semester they'll consider me for and those letters will go out in january. so i guess that means another 4 months of waiting. I dont know why whoever i spoke to told me I was being considered for early admission. oh well..

Anyone trying to get early admission to Charity?
Yeah they would have to let you know earlier I would think so that one can be prepared. I dont like the waiting either. I try not to have high hopes just in case I don't get good news. I hear of some people actually getting phone callse and some getting a letter. I wonder why that is.

Anyone trying to get early admission to Charity?
I just applied last month and I was told I am being considered for January so I'll keep my fingers crossed. I was told a letter would be sent out sometime in Sept.
