I have been looking around for a position in or around Salt Lake City and I have come up with nothing. Gaswork.com, CRNAjobs.com, nothing. I have done anesthesia group searches, etc and still cant find any job openings there. Does anyone no about the market there? Obviously its not great but why not? THere seems to be demand for CRNAs everywhere else. If anyone has some answers or advice for me, I would very much appreciate it. If someone here works there or knows a CRNA that does, I would like to communicate with them if possible. Thanks everyone.

What is the typical amount for the loan dispersments? Do they give you a check for the year or semester? Does interest start accumulating on the loans from when they are given out or when you graduate? I think a CD is the best way to go, they pay more interest than money market accounts. Bankrate.com shows all the highest yielding CD and MMA's.

Dont sweat that dummass GRE. I took it once and got a score in the 800's. Dont waste your time memorizing the verbal crap. I only studied the math portion. My GPA was not even a 3.0 and i got accepted to anesthesia school on my first interview and will be starting in January. It sounds like your GPA and experience far outweigh the GRE score so i wouldnt even take that damn thing again. Hell, some schools dont even care about it, its just a formality. I personally think the GRE is a scam anyway. I would focus your nervous energy on taking the CCRN and become an instructor in ACLS. That shows them alot more than a GRE score.

Union University

Dude, my overall GPA was a 2.9 and i just got the call today that i was accepted. I also have 2 science BS degrees, CCRN, 3.5yrs ICU experience. So overall GPA isnt the only factor. Strong science grades are the most important in my opinion. But you also have to be a "Real Person" They dont want 4.0 students if there isnt any more substance than that. I think they mostly want to know that you are someone who can be an ace of many trades, but not necessarily a master of one. I would try to take graduate courses towards an MSN, get CCRN, become an ACLS instructor, and get plenty of ICU experience.

Dude, im in the same spot as you are. Had my interview last tuesday. They said they would notify everyone within 2 wks. Now im freaking out waiting. Dont know what to do. Cant get it out of my head. Then, when the letter arrives, is it too thick? not thick enough? should i open it right then or should i have a 12 pack first? This Sux

Why would you interview at Union when you are already accepted at Wolford? Just curious. Union is pretty damn expensive.

I got right into ICU after my BSN. Probably due to shortage and staffing problems, but i didnt complain. I started nights and within a year went to weekend option so i could take more classes during the week. Its been 3.5 yrs since then and the staffing problem still exists so i get my weekend pay(time and a half) anytime i work including any extra shifts. So its turned out to be a pretty sweet deal. I could probably work 7 nights a week if i wanted to and there hasnt been a limit placed on extra shifts. Im sure its not like this everywhere, but this is what my situation is.

They did not specifically ask what my financial situation was. They did ask what kind of support i had and volunteered that i had emotional support from my family and that my financial situation was very good. They wanted to make sure that i knew that i couldnt work during the program and that i had a plan in place so i was surprised by the workload, etc. They in no way probed my money situation, i gave that info voluntarily.

What was the interview like at Wolford?

I was pretty pleased with everyones attitude and how pleasant it was. I think my interview went better than i expected but there are 60 people competing for 26 seats. Im still sitting here thinking about what i should have said and things like that b/c i was so nervous. Mostly they seemed to want to know if i was prepared financially and emotionally for the program. My overall GPA isnt that great, but my science GPA is very good, My dad is a CRNA, and i have 2 B.S. degrees, CCRN, and 3.5yrs ICU experience, no kids, and a good chunk of money saved up. So with all of that, I really hope it is enough for them to give me a shot. How did your interview go? When do you think they will let us know anything?

Had an interview at Union University this week. Anyone had an innterview there before? Anyone an SRNA there?
