TOTALLY! EVERY cold or sinus thing I get, usually settles in my lungs, and not kindly either. I was in an oxygen tent at the ripe old age of one with "croup", and literally used to get it everytime the wind blew. Which here is OFTEN! I was not around children much for YEARS, became a full time mom to a 5 year old, 4 years ago and my immune system has had quite a time of it. So yes, I DO think some are more prone to certain illnesses, I almost NEVER have stomach issues though.

See my post under the @#$^ flu shot post. However, after being incredibly sick 2 years in a row, and one of those while pregnant. I HIGHLY recommend one. Take some sort of fever reducer prior to receiving injection, and rest the day following if possible. My 17 month old will be getting one since he has shown my predisposition to "croup" illnesses and the flu about shut down my lungs TWICE! That's my personal opinion. My dr said that post emergency c-section, and I was NOT able to establish a GOOD breastfeeding routine ( I didn't produce much milk, barely 2 oz a day, unexplained), that it can take up to 8 weeks. However, if you aren't on b/c, and if your cycles have returned, or you think they might have, then the Hcg should be gone. I'm assuming by your question however, that you have NOT had menses since delivery? I would call your dr for a blood hcg level, maybe to be repeated 48 hours later to see if level is increasing or decreasing. Good luck. Dragracermom

I'll tell ya, I am THANKFUL for having an appointment to receive the shot! Last year, I got INCREDIBLY sick, they thought I had pnuemonia, I had a fever that couldn't be controlled with anything, and couldn't breathe. I then ended up with a bronchial and sinus infection. All over my birthday too! I had severe laryngitis for SIX weeks! I couldn't even whisper! They think I had contracted at LEAST one or two flu viruses at the same time! I hadn't gotten the shot because they ran out!! The PRIOR year, I was in my first trimester of my pregnancy, there was an extreme shortage of vaccine. When I hit 13 weeks, I BEGGED for the shot, since I am high risk, every cold flu virus I catch settles in my lungs and causes severe bronchitis. Has since I was one. Anyhow..... no vaccine, nothing available at all, sure enough, that was November, by March, I had the flu!!! At 28 weeks pregnant! My oxygen level was dangerously low, and my lungs weren't functioning well. So, I ended up on all kinds of meds just to breathe!! It was that, or be admitted. VERY scary while pregnant. I was a "croup" baby, not uncommon here in the high altitudes, but I NEVER completely grew out of it. I do NO have asthma. Sooo...... After being incredibly sick, and losing work and taking MONTHS to recover. I personally will get the shot. I don't know about being mandated to get one, however they are saying this year the flu could be incredibly bad, almost pandemic, from reports I've seen. I am healthy and young and it almost hospitalized me twice in 2 years! Good health to all! Dragracermom!

The prisons and information about them are in the Greeley paper, or were earlier this week. www.greeleytrib.com I agree, there are good and bad parts of town, but the prices have a LOT of disparity to them. The west side is the "new" side but houses are a LOT more expensive. The "east" side is supposedly bad, but let me tell you, everywhere I go, someone tells me that there are bad and good to each. I do like living here, would stay if my hubby didn't have to drive to Lakewood everyday for work!!! Like I said, I have a nice house for rent. When I finally DO become a nurse, I DO plan on working at either NCMC, or one of the hospitals up this way, commute or not!! I really did have a great experience at NCMC!!! I think overall, it's cheaper in Greeley to live, Ft Collins is beautiful, no doubt, but more expensive, as is Loveland these days. If you want to save $$, Greeley/Evans is the area to be. We had contimplated staying here, but the drive is costing us about $500/mo! Good luck!

Hi there. I'm a future nurse wanna be, but live in Greeley, work for a large roofing contractor here in Greeley. We just completed a new addition/remodel of both Mckee Medical in Loveland, and at North Co Medical Center in Greeley, have contract on Medical Center of the Rockies, so future employment is good. Pay, I have no idea. Economy TANKED is the word. Some say it's good, but it is SOOOOOO not if you own real estate. My husband works 60+ mi away in Lakewood, my Step daughter goes to school in Brighton (35 mi away) and my infant son goes to my in laws for daycare in Frederick 30 mi away. We have had our NICE house (not the best, but nice!!) in Evans for sale for over 4 months and not only have we not had any offers, we haven't had ONE showing!!! Colorado has the HIGHEST rate of foreclosures in the nation right now, with the Greeley/Evans market leading the charge! We are now trying to rent it out to somone that can use it, so we can move to Frederick and cut DH's drive in half. We see at least 30 people a week right now looking for work, the lower skilled jobs have taken HUGE hits lately with Monfort/Swift Beef laying off about 800+ people in the last year or so. I WILL say, that I had NEVER been in the hospital for ANYTHING before and never had even an IV before my son was born last year. BUT, I delivered him at NCMC and those L&D nurses are the ones that have helped me make my decision to return to school and start all over at age 37 to become a nurse!!! They were awesome!!!! I don't know how well nurses like to work for Banner Health, but mine were awesome, so any of you out there, thank you!!! I DO think the economy here in Greality can't go down much more, so the turn around is in sight. BTW, I have a 4bd, 2 ba house for rent. Right by a NICE huge park in Evans. Dragracermom!!

I agree, Fertilityfriend was awesome! I had never had problems,on or off bc, or anything EVER. After my m/c I had all KINDS of issues, spotting early in the luteal phase, longer time until ovulation, everything. My 4 rounds of clomid were a bust, as was one IUI. I had just had my first appt with an RE when he saw that I'd already ovulated that cycle, turns out, it was the magic one and I was preggo. Turns out, I have cysts all over my "dominant" ovary (no, you DON'T alternate ovaries as was previously thought). My Left one usually doesn't "work" but that IS the one that my son came from. My right ovary is painful at ovulation and was the one that I usually ovulated from, but looks as though there is a problem with the egg quality from that one. That book taught me more about myself than anything, and my OB loved seeing the charts!! I was on Prometrium for the first 13 weeks of my pregnancy, my luteal phase had "issues". Good luck those TTC!!

I really liked the various/combined methods. I used to track my (TMI WARNING) mucous. It is a huge sign and would only use the OPK's when that sign told me it was near. My Dr. recommended the OPK's. I got pregnant the first month my DH and I tried, only to lose that one at 9.5 weeks. It took 11 months after that to get preggo again. I finally did, after 4 rounds of Clomid and one failed IUI. BUT, if not for the information in that book, I would still be trying and my baby boy is now almost 13 months old! Good luck, and sometimes it is hard to be patient, I know that for certain! Praying for a baby for you!

Sorry. Misunderstood. Have you thought of using OPK's (ovulation predictor kits) ? Either way, the book mentioned by pp and myself is a GREAT resource. I highly recommend it. Good luck.

This is my first post on Allnurses.com. Hoping to start pre reqs this fall!! Just want you to know, if you pick up a copy of "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" it is AWESOME! She has great pointers for charting basal temps for night workers!! As long as you can temp about the same time every sleep session, after a minimum of 3-4 hours of sleep, you should begin to have a basic pattern you can use! I used basal temping to get preggo after fertility issues and a miscarriage. My son just turned ONE!! Good luck, Dragracermom!!:redpinkhe
