  1. a similar thing happend to me when I was in my last rotation as a student, I was on a med/surg ward and the nurses all decided to have a lunch together, they told me I was in charge (I thought they where joking but they disappeared) and hid in one of the patient rooms. The director came around and was asking where they went and I didn't know! That was the worst prac I ever went on, I went home crying 70% of the time... they where just belittling bullies, they even put a sticker on my back one day that a patient pointed out to me about me being new and not knowing anything, I couldn't believe grown women could act like this........... Made me seriously question going into nursing.
  2. In Australia RNs scrub and we have ENs or AINs circulate (we even have orderlies who circulate now due to the Nursing shortages!) I think they have just started teaching EN's to scrub now too there just has to be a RN in the room (Aneasthetics or Circulating) We currently do not have scrub techs, although I have asked our Nursing Unit Manager if we would employ an USA trained Scrub Tech as my aunt is a ST and wishes to move here, I found that she would have no problems being hired.
  3. As long as your wearing shoes:) Sorry just had to add this comment after having to tell a dentist that came in to assist/watch a stage 1 implant this week that it might be better to put 'overshoes' over his shoes. He was standing there in his socks, with the overshoes and NO shoes! lol (sorry, bit of a tongue twister). Maybe he was having trouble deciding which shoes would be best and came to the conclusion that barefoot was the way God intended.
  4. Hi everyone:) I am a new poster but have been reading the posts for ages for the information and so that I don't feel so alone! So here is the story, I was on call this weekend and have been doing everything that I am supposed to do when on call - not going out, staying within a certain range of the hospital etc. but for some reason I missed the call. I was at a mall about 5min drive from the hospital and had my phone in my purse along with my boyfriends phone which went off about three times while we were there and I heard and answered it each time. However, when I got home and checked my phone for the time I realised that I had missed a call from the hospital for a vascular case about 4hours prior.........I never heard the call!! I feel so bad! I have been on call a few times before (I am only 6months in on my newgraduate program) but have never actually been called in. I would have loved to have done the call.........I definately need the $$ what should I do?
