  1. I just finished potty training my son so after I pulled my pts foley I told her to let me know once she urinated. She called me in and said she went and I said in my sticky sweet mommy voice "good job!". I immediately apologized and explained we were potty training at home and it was a habit. Thankfully she laughed and didn't take offense.
  2. I graduated a little over a year ago and starting salaries for hospitals in the lr area ranged from 18-20/hr. pool nurses of course make a little more. at the hospital iwork for i believe it is somewhere between 33-35/hr.
  3. I went to ualr and graduated from there last may. It has its issues as do all schools but over all i felt prepared for the real worls as much as you can be. i think no matter where you go your going to be nervous until you are out for awhile. I applied and was accepted to baptist first a couple of years ago but i found that they would not answer questions about financial aide and after coming up with the money found out it wasnt enough. The pass rate for ualr and the hesi as far as i know in my class only 1 person didnt pass that year and 1 as well from the year before. My advice is if you choose baptist make sure you find out the financial situation.
  4. I applied there back in oh i believe 2005 for the RN program and was told how hard it is to get in but found that wasnt exactly the case. The hard part was coming up with the money since they did not participate in the pell grant programs. Needless to say i ended up withdrawling before school started and i went to ualr. But the fact that you are 26 and have been out of school awhile shouldnt be factored into whether you get admitted or not. Nursing has alot of "non-traditional" students. I went to school with quite a few people that nursing was a second career for them.
  5. I just completed my nursing program and have to make an 850 on thursday to pass. In our program you are given 3 chances at $38 a take to pass or you will recieve an F for your last semester and have to go back to school. I passed my first year with a 925 without studying so im not extremely worried however i have friends that are excellent students and would have been excellent nurses but didnt make the grade on the hesi. Let people take the test that matters and if you fail the nclex then you can do what you need to. Two years of intense training plus pre-reqs all to fall on one test that doesnt count unless you dont pass. Another way for a rich person to get richer.
  6. I worked at a facility for handicapped children for several years and had a child of 4 with the diagnosis of bipolar and i found myself wonder how in the heck can they diagnose something like this in a 4 yr old. Hmm extreme ups and downs. i have yet to meet a 4 yr old that doesnt display this behavior. i worked with this child on a daily basis for several years and his behavior wasnt out of the ordinary for having the kind of parents he had.

Hi! I have to take the Hesi on monday and have no idea what to expect. Im done with my first semester of nursing school and they want us to get an 850 and i just wondered is that alot or average. They didnt tell us much about the test other that it was 110 questions and we get 2 trys and they want us to get 850 so any info anyone has on it would be greatly appreciated.
  9. thats up to the instructer you get. some of them might not like the phone idea. depends on your teacher.
  10. Yes i have one i have the Palm tungston E2 and i really do think it helped in clinical for looking up drugs when you couldnt bring your books. some instructors wouldnt let you carry everything with you.
  11. The thing about monthly meetings wasnt in the handbook it was on the website when you registered for the class under it it says something about mandantory meetings on ... and has the dates. I emailed the women today on the st. vincent scholarship cause i hadnt heard anything and she said i would get a call in July for a interview in case you applied and were wondering it will be next month. Im itching to know how things work and what to expect but dont know anyone who has been there.
  12. I also figured that parking would be better than ualr. I was wondering one class we had to sign up for all of them were on ualr campus but it says something about mandantory meetings once a month. I wonder if that is the only time we have to go to that class and maybe the rest is web based. I got my uniform already and am quite excited i hope the excitement lasts through the first semester at least.
  13. Hi i was just curious if anyone has heard anything about how the classes on the st. vincents campus are. I signed up for classes over there and was wondering what to expect. Also wondering if anyone else was going to classes there.
  14. Yes I believe she is faculty. She was the one doing the clinicals at the hospital i preferred so i hope she isnt to hard. I expect the whole thing to be very challenging but as long as she is reasonable im good. :0)
  15. I applied before the first deadline which i believe was in feb. i put in my app in jan and got my acceptance letter at the end of march when they sent out the first batch. I think if u missed the feb deadline you probably go on the waiting list. I know several people who applied early and are still on the waiting list. Hopefully you hear from them soon! Good Luck, Best wishes!
