  1. Hi everyone, I'm one of those "changing careers in mid-life" people :) I'm currently getting my prerequisites done at HCC. I've had all A's but I will be taking classes through next Spring. Here's the question: Will my application get consideration for the BSN Accelerated program at UT-Houston even though I will still be taking prerequisite classes in the Spring? Someone told me that since competition was so great, they don't even look at those that haven't already completed the prerequisites. Thanks, Kenny
  2. Hi all! I'm currently getting my pre-reqs done at HCC and will be applying soon to UT-H. I'm hoping to get into the one-year Accelerated BSN program starting Summer 2007. Anyone on here have experience in that program? Are the online classes hard? What kind of hours do you put in every day? I know I'll have to quit my job to get through that program, but sometimes I worry, because I have a wife and 3 kids. I have great support in my wife (she's already an RN). I'm also hoping that when I'm applying for financial aid, they consider what I would be earning in school (which is $0.00) and not what I earned up until I quit my job. Anyways, congratulations and good luck to all of you entering this year! Hope to see you next year!
  3. Wow, Me too! I have a BS in Comp Sci. Have put in 16 years and at the ripe old age of 40 have decided to change gears and get a BSN. I'm still putting in my 40 hours a week at work and persuing the pre-reqs. I'm currently enrolled in A&P I first 5 weeks and A&P II second 5 weeks for the summer. I've got about 12-15 hours to get after that and hope to get accepted into nursing school by next summer. After that, some experience in the ICU and on to get the CRNA. The reason I'm changing careers? I feel trapped with Comp Sci in that you have to work in some big city somewhere. I want the freedom to live where I want (like the beach). I'm very lucky in that my wife already holds a BSN and is very supportive of this change (especially since it gets her to the beach too!)
  4. I'm startin A&P next week. A&P I for five weeks and A&P II for the next five. I'm a little nervous cramming these classes into summer sessions since I'm also holding down a full time job, but it should give me an indication of what an Accelerated BSN program might be!
