  1. Make sure you take breaks during the test, at least every 1 1/2 hour to clear your head a bit. Use the board they give you. For example, if the question pertains to Addison's disease, I would write everything I knew about it on the board -need to add aldosterone, aldosterone makes you retain NA and H20 and retain K, so now I have too much K and not enough Na/h20,blah,blah,blah (can you tell I took Hurst review)-sounds like a lengthy thing to do but it really did help me to figure out the answer for some of the questions. Remember your ABCs for priority questions. Get a good night's sleep. Eat breakfast. Try to narrow down your answers to 2 and give your best guess. Look at every single answer, usually if two answers are exact oopposites then one of them is the right answer. I agree with previous posts that you probably know your stuff but just need help with test taking. Best of luck to you, I hope you ace it!
  2. I took my exam this morning in 2 hours, I had 75 questions, mostly priority and teaching. I definitely took my time and made myself take a break after an hour so. I studied Hurst and Saunders book. My school offered ERI but I don't think that really helped me. When I finished I had a good feeling but then I got to my car and started looking up answers to questions and started counting the ones I had missed which made me feel more unsure. Still waiting with crossed fingers!
  3. I waited until after graduation to start looking for a job bc I was unsure of what state I would be living in while most of my classmates already had jobs secured. I was worried to death that I wouldn't be able to get a job especially since I had absolutely no prior experience. I only had retail experience working at the local mall! I had nightmares thinking I would be quickly rejected. I ended up sending resumes to 5 hospitals, and 4 were interested and wanted to set up interviews. My very first interview, (I was scared to death), the nurse manager offered me the position right after it was done. You will definitely find a job soon esp. with your experience as an LVN. Just make sure your resume and cover letter are nicely presented and try to find the name of the nurse recruiter so you can address it specifically to her/him.
  4. Thanks Daytonite for responding. I thought those were the answers but I kept second-guessing myself.
  5. Can anyone answer these questions, I'm studying for a medication calculation test and I feel dumb but I can't find the anwers. 1. ) Tom is taking Dilantin 300 mg at bedtime. The doctor changes all his meds to the IV route. what is the corresponding IV dose of levothyroxine? a.)0.05 mg b.)0.1 mg c.)0.2 mg d.) 1 mg
  6. I just graduated nursing school 3 weeks ago and am waiting to take NCLEX. My interests lie in postpartum or mother baby but I am willing to work in med/surg. Also, I am pretty inexperienced with interviews. What would you wear for interviews with nurse managers, a business suit or business casual attire?
  7. Hi! I'm moving to the Gulf Breeze area and have interviews set up with the following hospitals- Baptist in Pensacola, West Florida, and North Okaloosa in Crestview. Anyone out there work for any of these or know any positives/negatives? I know absolutely nothing about them besides what is on their websites. Thanks!
  8. Hi! After a few weeks of job hunting, I have my first interview coming up in a few days and have a few questions. I'm meeting with a nurse manager at the hospital and am not sure what to bring, what to wear, etc. Should I wear a business suit or will that be too formal? any advice will be appreciated.
  9. Please help me, I'm really confused about the next step to take. I just graduated from a BSN program in LA two weeks ago, and had to move to FL unexpectedly for family reasons a few days later. I already applied for my FL license and waiting to get my ATT. I've started looking at jobs online but don't know if I should apply for jobs as a graduate nurse or wait to get my RN license and then apply for RN jobs. I called BON and they said it will take a few weeks to become eligible as a graduate nurse. Do I have to wait until I am eligible to apply for these graduate nurse jobs? I am so anxious to find a job and start interviewing!!!
