Does anyone know the difference between a protective stabilizing device and restraint used in the special needs classroom? Also, should teachers be applying and documenting on these since they are written as a physician order?

Tiggerbelly, Don't feel bad, my first day as a CNA I had one patient and I was the last one done everthing. The shower alone took me 4 hours. I was very paranoid and no one was willing to help me. Speed will come with time. Don't take short cuts, it's not worth it. Good Luck.

Have you tried the VA hospitals, I know they hire LPN's. I don't know about the pay but I hear the benefits are great. There should be several in every state.

Just an FYI, I bleached my white Danskos after having them covered in blood and they turned yellow. It was worth it to get rid of all the germs but now they look bad. I've never tried it, but what about Cavicide whipes?

Hi, I have never seen a CNA working in an OR. Usually there are surgical tech's in the OR which is a different program from the CNA. Maybe you could try a PACU. Most hospitals use CNA's in the PACU. Good Luck.

Hi, I'm really sorry to hear that you're having such a bad experience with this instructor. There is a saying that "nurses eat their young" somtimes this is true. Just know that your class will end and you won't have to deal with her anymore. You already have her behavior documented so do your best and just get through your class. I have found that once you start working most nurses are very happy to have you around and even want to help you learn and become better at what you do. Don't let one bad seed get you down. Carry Altoid brand peppermints. Pop one in your mouth just before changing the bag. They are so strong, that will be the only thing you smell. As for getting the stool out, just put lots of chux down in case you make a mess that way you won't have to clean that up too. Just make it quick. Good luck!
