  1. I miss Flordia!! Raised in Philadelphia. Lived all over the country. Moved 50 times. I graduated from nursing school in Clearwater. Lived in Largo, Bellaire, Tarpon Springs (great Greek food), New Port Richey, Gainesville, Destin, Santa Rosa Beach. I did not work in Destin as the pay for an RN was $12 hr, same as CNA in Clearwater. I liked that I could go outside everyday, instead of spending winter indoors. Love the beaches, the fresh seafood. The only mean people I met were at my first job in a nursing home (Mean Nurses). I still email my Florida friends. Hope to move back to Florida in the future. Anne
  2. My youngest daughter and I were freshmen together. I was 48 and graduated at 52. Always go for your goals in life no matter what your age. As you ramble on through life, whatever be your goal, keep your eye upon the donut and not upon the hole. Anne
  3. My youngest daughter and I were freshmen together. I made straight A's so they couldn't discriminate because of my age. I graduated at 52. I found great joy in helping others. I treasure the thank you notes from my patients and their families.
  4. If BSN is better educated why do they take the same NECLEX as ADN? Hmmm And, which group scores higher on the test?
  5. Harry, look at your posts. Under age you put 19. Enjoy your responses on this forum.:)
  6. Congratulations flowerchild!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your EARNED it. I wish you great success. This forum is for learning so other nurses can EARN their own success. It is also a great forum for encouragment and support.
  7. There are thousands of private ALFs in Florida. Don't even need a license for 5 or less clients. Check the Florida nurses discussions. They may be able to link you up with ALFs there. Legal guardians look for private homes to place their clients. Check at the courthouse for guardians. Also, check with the health department.
  8. Go to Nursing Entrepreneurs discussions on this site. Lots of info there.
  9. I had two friends who had ALFs in their home in FL. With 5 clients or less they did not even need a license. Everyone seemed very happy, clients and owners. Go to Nursing Entrepreneurs discussions on this site and you will get a lot of support for starting your own business.
  10. Go see the manager on the med surge at the hospital you would like to work at. I learned through experience that they will most likely not even see your application. Would you be more likely to hire someone that wanted the job so much they came to see you personally?
  11. I am a homecare nurse. Don't want to apply for a job till after Christmas. They are opening a new Amedisys homecare here in Acworth. My daughter is an LPN and working in a great clinic in Cartersville. The staff is all Christians, including the doctors. A very caring staff.
  12. Cartersville is about 10 miles north of Acworth. Yes, they have OB. It took about a month to get my GA license. Did the verification online. Cartersvillemedical.com 770 382-1530
  13. hospital $15-18 clinics $12-16 nursing homes $16-19
  14. Go to http://www.ajc.com and check the classifieds for nursing jobs. My daughter is an LPN and works for a doctors office in Cartersville, Ga. She loves it.
  15. Hi, I moved to Acworth 4 months ago. Just got my GA license. Live in Woodstream Subdivision. We like Acworth. You could check out Cartersville hospital. The drive would be easier.
