Thanks Vicky and BSN. I went to the website and will follow up with a letter on both House and Grey's. I do think ER, although still not perfect is much closer to reality as far as nursing tasks are portrayed.

Does anyone watch House? I like the show for the medical mysteries but always am bothered that there are no nurses at all! Really, the docs pass the meds and seem to do all the pt care. Last night in one scene a child, sister of a patient asks to help one of the doctors. He tells her to bend the pt legs. She asks if that is what nurses do. I didn't quite catch the doctors answer...I think it was 'that is all we let them do'. Did anyone else watch it? Before I get angry I wanted to see what the line was that was said.

I quit with the patch but I had very disturbing dreams. I took the patch off at night, right before I went to sleep. Had a fresh one ready as soon as I stepped out of the shower. Also, since I was in school then I purposely took all the COPD, lung cancer and trach patients! Gave me something to think about. NOw, when I have those patients that need to quit I can give them encouragment as a fellow 'quitter'. Best of luck!

Just wondering...I'm not an ER nurse - still a student but I cringe whenever I see the recent asthma medication commercial. It is the one where the mother says "I called the hospital and told them 'get ready, my son is having a severe asthma attack'". All I can think of is people calling the ER saying 'get ready my husband is having a severe hang nail' etc.

FYI....CCAC Clinical sites vary depending on the campus. Allegheny Campus goes to AGH but other campuses go to other sites. North Campus does spend some time at Passavant. You need to check with the nursing dept for the campus you are interested in.

My dear, when would you sleep? When would you study? I think you may want to meet with someone from the school you are planning on attending. They can tell you what most students are able to handle in their program and the time committment required. Best of luck to you!

HI...Good luck at LaRoche. Why did you leave CCAC and what campus did you attend? Please explain why you said CCAC was 'horrible'. I am currently a CCAC student and I am very pleased with the program. I feel it is the best buy for the money I am spending. Are you enrolled at LaRoche for the BS degree?

Hello all, on my next clinical rotation I am to observe the IV team RN for the day! Anyone have tips on what to look for, what to ask, etc? I'd like to make the best use of my time with him or her? Thanks! (Not) Fazed in the least!
