  1. That was weird... I am a Peds ED RN and Pediatrics and ED were lowest on my list...
  2. if you are still on probation, you do not have to give notice... they could let you go at a moments notice and you can do the same. i hope you find a great place to work... all hospitals are not like this. i work at a wonderful facility. take care of yourself!
  3. Thank you so much for those! They are very helpful...
  4. We have been very short since the beginning of the year, and I have been working 4 twelves a week. This past week it got the best of me, so I am having my first mental health break in a while. The best part of it is, when I called out, I was honest and told them I had some personal stuff going on and it was not that big a deal. Our Unit is great, so we cover for each other when stuff like this comes up.
  5. We get a 30 minute lunch break and 95% of the time, we do take it. Only during the winter months or if we are super short do we not get a break.
  6. Hi, Fellow RN's. I am new to this post, so forgive any ignorance. I work in a fast paced Children's ED, and recently we have had at least a Code a week with a negative outcome. We had a child die this week and I think I was at the brink of "loosing it"...I was crying over the dead body and actually said aloud, "I do not think I can take another dead child". Several of us really have had a difficult time with this. So much so that I am considering changing jobs. Has anyone else gone thru this, have any advice, Scripture or books? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, Melissa
