Did not get in
Thank you for your well wishes. I am not sure if I would like to study Healthcare Administration or go the MBA route. I am going to take a few more undergrad courses to raise my GPA and to get my confidence level back up.

Did not get in
I just got the message from my fiance that my letter arrived this morning. I did not get in. I had been going back and forth with my decision for a few weeks now and wasn't sure if I wanted to move forward with nursing school so today the decision was made for me. I had low ATI testing scores did not have the best grades...only about a 3.2 gpa if you include my previous degree. I will be applying to Master's degree programs as my next move. I am actually relieved and feel that God was looking out for me in that He prevented me from making a big mistake, but it is always hard to face rejection. I feel like maybe I am not intelligent and who knows if I will make it in grad school. I know this is only because the news is still fresh. Anyway, good luck to everyone in school or trying to get in school. I am off to devote my energy to planning my wedding next year and preparing for grad school.

Fate determined
They reviewed apps at my school on Thurs and we are supposed to know by end of September. I called the school to find out when I could expect a letter either way and was told that there were a lot who applied this time around and that they "hoped" to get the letters out this week. I am driving myself crazy wondering. I just want to know either way as I don't do well with this kind of stuff. Not to mention I have to make a decision to continue down this nursing school path. I really want to be a nurse, but I am 34 and I need to have a career NOW. Sorry to vent!

Got in!
Congratulations!!! Here's the link stating that Keiser College is accredited by the NLNAC. There is a search engine on the website that brings up all accredited nursing programs for the US. http://www.nlnac.org Good luck to you!!

I finally made it in!!!!
Congratulations!! I bet that is a big weight off your shoulders. The waiting is terrible. I am still waiting to find out if I've been accepted--the admissions committee meets next week and I've been told that we would know something by the end of this month. When do you start? Good luck!

Harriet Tubman as a nurse
This might help you...you may have to scroll down a little bit to the part about Harriett Tubman's nursing career. It is a short section, but it may offer some insight. Good Luck! http://www.harriettubman.com/memoriam2.html

Applying for Jan 07
I applied for Feb 07. I won't find out if I've been selected for an interview until end of September. The wait is so hard. I am planning an informal wedding for 07 as well so as soon as I hear something I can put the finishing touches on my wedding.

Just got back from taking the TEAS (long)
OCstudent~ It certaintly couldn't hurt to take a brush up math course since you still have a little while before applying to nursing school. One word of caution is that much of the math on the TEAS was basic. I concentrated on the more advanced algebra & geometry, but the part I scored the lowest on was ratios.

Just got back from taking the TEAS (long)
My school wants you to score over the 50th percentile which I did so I am happy about that. However, I did not score very well on the math section. I was surprised because I thought I'd been focusing my attention on the math during study time, but apparently not. My overall score for the test was 78%. I did not use the ATI study guide, but I did study like crazy using some of the other testing books. Much of the math I had not done in over 16 years!!! I purchased one of the ATI practice exams for $27 which I have to say, save your money! I didn't find it helpful at all. The practice exam was way easier than the actual test. The administrator at my school did remark that I'd passed without even looking at the study manual. My school's admission committee will not be meeting again until September 21 so I won't know until sometime after that if I will be granted an interview. I am really worried because of my math score. The test administrator kept reassuring me that my grades were good and that "everyone does poorly on the metric conversions". For those of you taking the TEAS, make sure you know metric conversions (ALL OF THEM) as well as permutations. In my opinion you cannot study for the science. It is just too broad. There was only one A&P question and it involved looking at a drawing and identifying the pancreas. The english & reading were easy I thought. I was in the 99th percentile for both. I can't really think of anything else. If you can get the study guide then do so. I waited too long and found I could only find the guide online, but it was too late by that time. Good luck to everyone waiting to take entrance exams!

UPMC St. Margaret SON Questions
I just received my letter to schedule preadmissions testing. I have been studying already for about 2 1/2 weeks. There is still space in the class for February 07 which is the one I am really interested in. I want to get started with school as soon as possible. I will let everyone know how I do on the TEAS.

UPMC St. Margaret SON Questions
Thanks, I will look into some of the other Pittsburgh programs. I took my pre-reqs at CCAC and I am not particularily fond of CCAC. Community would be a last resort for me. It's a long story, but that is just my personal opinion.

UPMC St. Margaret SON Questions
NoelChristine~ Thank you very much for your informative reply. When I called St. Margaret's to inquire about the program the woman who answered the phone told me to hurry up and send in my application because they were already half full. I didn't know that they only accepted 45 students twice a year. I am going to call the school tomorrow and see what I can find out. As for the entrance exam, is there anything in particular that you think I should focus on? Did you use the TEAS study guide? Good luck at Shadyside!! I hear good things about their program.

UPMC St. Margaret SON Questions
Hi everyone~ I am moving this thread here from the pre-nursing students forum... I am applying for admission to St Margaret's program for 2007. Can anyone tell me what the application process is like? Is the pre-admissions test difficult? Is anyone currently a student there? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.
