  1. Hang in there, as everyone has said we all make mistakes. The good news is you will never forget it and you will find yourself checking and double checking all fluids from now on. One day when I was new off of orientation I almost did the same thing. We have an area in our med room where we keep bags of 0.9. You don't have to go into Pyxis to get it, just grab and go. The problem was someone had stocked some of the bags with D5W. Thank goodness I looked before I hung it. A very easy mistake to make. To this day, years later, I always double check. Be patient with yourself, it WILL get better.
  2. Thanks everyone for all of the great info! Go live tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the info hiddencat! I am studying now for the CPEN. The only book I am using is the ENA CPEN review. I have my CEN, I've had it for about 6 years. Thanks for the breakdown on the test questions. Wish me luck. I did OK on the CEN exam, scored at 92% and all I used was the ENA Study Guide.
  4. Has anyone used EPIC in the ED. I am a superuser and we go live very shortly. I have only been to two classes and proctored 2 more classes. I don't really feel prepared to be a superuser and was wondering what people think of the system?
  5. We deal with a huge population of MH patients. We only have one seclusion room so most of the time they are mixed in with regular ED pt's. They are there for days sometimes waiting for placement. For out of control MH pt's it's a B52 and restraints if needed.
  6. Hello Rita I took the CEN exam in May. I highly recommend the ENA review book. I also used a set of 12 CD's from Med Ed, they can be found and ordered online by doing a google search. They are not cheap, but they were very helpful. They say they will refund if you do not pass. I passed with 90%. Do as many practice questions as possible and go back and review the questions you missed. Good Luck! Study and you will do fine. One source I do not recommend are the flash cards or book by Morrison Media, CEN secrets, totally not worth the money. Cheryl

I bought the 12 dvd set and used that for review and found it to be very helpful. I took the CEN exam last week and passed with a 90%. It was really nice to get the results as soon as you finished the exam. I also used the ENA CEN review book with many multiple choice questions and it was quite similar to the CEN exam. I also purchased CEN Secrets by Morrison Media but would NOT recommend it. It was a waste of money, not helpful for the CEN at all. Good Luck, study and you will do fine.
