I became an LPN first, then let my employer pay for my RN. This way, I didn't have to deal with the waiting list and having all of the pre-reqs done. I worked while I got my RN. Since the state paid for mt LPN (through a displaced workers program, because my then employer was going out of business) and my current employer paid for my RN, I will have pretty much gotten it all for free by the time all is said and done.
