  1. I worked in Public Health for ten years, and we never ran short of issues: Teen Pregnancy is a biggie, can cost a community a lot of money. Immigrant health, PH is a major provider. Smoking Cessation, Cancer control and education. Bioterrorism is an emerging issue. Communicable Disease - TB is on the rise in a lot of communities. The possibilities are endless. Suggest you visit the website of your local Health Department for ideas
  2. Had a negative experience when I applied to them - their HR is in Minnesota. The contacted me to set up a phone pre-interview with someone in California (job was in Maryland, go figure). I missed the interview because the little girl who arranged it couldn't figure out the time-zone difference between MD and CA and gave me the wrong time. I never called back. I think their HR may be outsourced, so I shouldn't blame the company, but 5 time zones is not rocket science. She even asked me what time zone Maryland was in - duh.....
  3. I have an ASN , a BBA in Health Care Admin and am almost finished with my degree in HC Mgt. I think the 4 year degree is what matters as long as it is in the healthcare field. I have just taken a CM job - had my choice of 3. I think more companies are looking at well-rounded experience.
  4. I work for a large DM firm. We are expected to do 4 calls an hour - 10 minute calls and 5 minute wrap-time. Most of my patients are seniors and it takes some of them 10 minutes to find their medication list. Very frustrating, I don't feel like I am doing quality work at all, it's al about numbers and productivity.
