Thanks for sharing! The post-masters NP certificate is a great idea! I'm considering Western Governors University's Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Post-Masters Certificate program. Is there anyone who has completed the WGU FNP PMC program? If so, how was it? Did you have a difficult time finding your own preceptors for the clinical rotations?

Sorry, I meant to say: ... Many SCHOOLS now require the DNP degree, rather than an MSN, to become an NP. I mistakenly typed "states" when I meant to type "schools." Yes, indeed, I'm working while also going to school, as many people are, because life requires money, and school is not cheap!

A nurse who has a PhD and wants to earn the DNP is able to better do both nursing research and nursing clinical care. Many states now require the DNP degree, rather than an MSN, to become an NP.

Anyone got a PhD first and then decided to go back to school to get a DNP? Anyone know of schools that offer PhD-DNP bridge programs? I see a lot in internet searches about programs the other way, I.e., DNP-PhD bridge programs, but can't find it the reverse way. I also see DNP/PhD Dual Degree programs where you work on the two degrees simultaneously, but not where you have the PhD already and now want to earn the DNP. Thanks!
