  1. ahhh!!! I see...lol...sorry!
  2. I am confused??? Did I say somewhere that all RNs are female?
  3. Thanks for the info guys. I just learned that my federal aid will not cover the course because it's only 5 months and they won't cover a course that small...weird.
  4. I tried that...is there something wrong with my browser? I went through like 50 pages and couldn't find an answer Thanks for the encouragement!
  5. It's me again...I know I keep posting questions, but I always research this first before posting. Since it is important I start working as soon as possible, yet I still would like to be a nurse, I have decided to look into becoming a phlebotomist here in tulsa so that I can get on with a hospital with tuition re-imbursement for college. So even though it might take me 6 freakin years to be an RN, at least I would bringing some much needed income into my house being a phlebotomist. How much are they paid here in tulsa? I heard it was almost as much as a medical assistant. Is this true? The class hourse are perfect at CCC Friday and Saturday 9-5, so I wouldnt need much daycare. This also might give me a look into what nurses deal with as I would like to work in a hospital setting. Does this sound like a good idea?
  6. Do you feel this type of career inflames your conditions? Nursing I mean?
  7. I would just like to know if there are any nurses out there with Lupus or any other type of connective tissue disease? How hard does it make your job and do you feel you have more flare ups before or after you became a nurse? I so appreciate any responses. Also, do LPNs and RNs do about the same physical work?
  8. Thank you for all the info, I have sent letters to HR for a few hospitals in my area. I will update you on the answers I get!
  9. Where did you get this figure? OMG!!! I know this post is old, but I was doing a search as I was contimplating going to Central Tech in Sapulpa and then working in Tulsa as an LPN. Can you give me your source for this info???
  10. Well I guess I am considering lowering my sights and going for an LPN with a facility who will perhaps help me get my RN later down the line. What is the job outlook in Oklahoma for LPNs? Are there many LPN jobs for the L/D unit? I know that RNs have more education and can do asessments and IVs, but what is the real difference between LPN and RN? Will I basically be doing all the grunt work and getting paid less for it? Please don't be offended if you are an LPN! I am just grouchy because I don't have enough time to go to school for an RN degree. Thanks for all the help girls!
  11. Marilyn, does your cousin work in Oklahoma??? I would seriously consider doing my LPN in Sapulpa if I thought it was worth my time. I just thought there weren't many jobs for LPNs. Lana, Thanks so much for the advice. I DO want to jump right in and start, but this has to be a mutual decision for both me and my family and unfortunitely 4 years of college does not fit into the plan I admire you so much for having the means and determination.
  12. LPNs are being phazed out all over the place, so I didn't see the point in it. Also, I would really like to work in a doctor's office or on the labor and delivery floor of a hospital and I don't think there are many LPNs there. I am just very surprised it takes 4 years to get an associates degree at TCC...WOW.
  13. Also, I thought they dropped math from the pre-req requirement?
  14. so you are saying that it take 4 years for the whole thing? 2 years pre- req and 2 year nursing? OMG
  15. Is there ANY way you could find out what the 5 day hours are? I called today and talked to two different people who didn't know. Basically I am trying to find out if this is do-able because I can only attend 9am-3pm m-f. I know it changes the last semester when there is some night work, but for the magority of the time I need to know what the 5 days a week course would be. Also, what pre-reqs did you take and how long did it take you? THANKS!
  16. I am also wondering if any of you have obtained financing to help with the costs of daycare along with your student loan? I don't qualify for any assistance because my hubby makes too much. I can't afford daycare, but was wondering if anyone does financing to help with the cost of daycare for students? I need to find someone who will let me wait until I graduate to start paying on the loan. Weird question, but I had to ask!
  17. I really need to know what type of hours you had class and clinicals for the RN program at TCC if you attended their program. It really makes or breaks it for me as I have no one to watch my children after 6pm. Do they work with me on hours for clinicals? It's the difference between me going or not. THANKS!
  18. well, I am for real here! LOL...I have enough concerns about me being smart enough to go back to college at 32 years old, I don't want to be wasting my time. Also, how hard is it to go back to get my BSN later on if I went to a good college with pre-reqs in the first place? Is it another 2 years of school or what? I am already planning on 3 years for my ASN.
  19. Dear God! I am seriously getting discouraged by this thread. What about nursing is so bad? I am not afraid of hard work and I love and am interested in how the human body works. Each and every time I have been in the hospital, I was so intrigued by chatting with the nurses and each one I told that I considering nursing encouraged me. I would really like to know what is so bad--i mean REAL examples so that I can make a more informed decision. Is there a lot of poo? Not too scared of poo...Not too scared of being yelled at because I didn't get everything done when I know darn well my supervisor knows I couldn't. What is the problem, please give me real examples as to why you hate your job--PLEASE SAVE ME from making a stupid decision!
  20. Sorry I haven't slept in two days...lol...I meant the 2 and a half year program.
  21. were these wages for a ASN or BSN pay?
  22. RIGHT ON!!!! But one more thing I need to know is what hours are the RN 2.5 class???? Is it all day?
  23. Do your transcripts say that you took the classes online? I just wonder if they will frown on that, or do they really treat it like it's the same?
