  2. I think they are emailing everyone today if they were referred. I almost didn't apply this time around because I started an OR training program and I'll be very close to the 6 months max of experience by March. I applied before I graduated last year and got this exact same email for 6 units before they decided to cancel. This time only one unit has emailed. I knew it was going to be extremely competitive, but I am honestly surprised. I used to work at UCSD, I have every certification I could get (ACLS, PALS, BLS, Nihss), I'm an active member of the professional organization of the specialty I was interested in, I work with ANA California, I volunteer with so many non-profits, I'm completing my MSN, and I thought I was a strong candidate. Somehow I barely made the cut for one single unit. TBH it's all about who you know, for more than these hospitals want to make it seem like their job postings are open to everyone, word of mouth and direct referrals are our best bets. Don't beat yourself if you don't get referred, go get your experience in any hospital and after 6 months start applying again. Good luck to everyone!
  3. I interviewed last week with a recruiter. I applied long time ago but all of my statuses always said not selected. So I was surprised to get a phone call to schedule a phone interview. I was not even looking for a job anymore since I have an offer for another hospital. But now I want Hoag so bad. Did anyone completed the phone interview with the recruiter yet? If so, how long until you heard back from the actual department? She said I should hear back this week, but my anxiety is killing me. It's for the specialty I've always wanted, so I'm willing to declined the other offer even when it pays more.
  4. I've been trying to stay away from the blog for so long! After a long/short debate I took a position at another hospital to train in the specialty I want. I've been trying to avoid bedside, and yes, I know it sounds bad, but I'm trying to save my sanity and my back, so I chose service before organization in the hopes of coming back and skip medsurg/dou. I do know that they hired one person for DOU in Anaheim, and I was told by the DA that another position could open. I think I was the only internal candidate, the other people were pretty much handpicked/referred. But I could be wrong. If you feel like this cohort is tiny, you're absolutely right. The reality is that budget cuts and the upcoming possible strike has affected tremendously the hiring process. I never heard back from medsurg in Anaheim. Basically positions for the new grad program are based on the department needs. They are not creating new positions for us new grads. So unless someone retire or leaves for any reason, no position can be offered. They could convert positions into new grad, but again that depends on department needs. Don't feel discouraged, it is extremely hard out there for us newbies. Network a lot, try to join professional organizations and then apply back after a year or two. Or wait until the next cohort and see if more positions open. The uncertainty of the political and economical climate is playing against us. Good luck to all!
  5. Interview went well. It was the longest interview I've ever had in my life. I was there for a little bit over an hour. I am feeling a but discourage because they only have one opening. The manager did tell me he was interviewing 6 of us. And that everyone was internal and coming recommended by their unit, so pretty much he said the competition is furious. He said this is the first time they get approved for the new grad program. So whoever gets it will be the first in DOU to get a new grad position. It was a panel interview with 4 people interviewing me. 2 charge nurses, manager and I think the DA. They were all super sweet and you can tell that they love their unit and their leadership. Lots of behavioral type of questions, and then they asked me to get a pen and paper and gave me a clinical scenario type of question and asked what my priority will be and what type of imaging I anticipate to be ordered. I hope this helps. Honestly I am so sad because so many applicants and not enough positions. But again, this was just for the hospital I am based at. Good luck everyone!

  7. Thank you ?? BSN. My best advise that I can give to anyone trying for Kaiser is that if you are in school do apply to the attendant positions. Some KP hospitals don't require you to be a CNA, as long as you're working on your RN they'll hire you if you are a good fit for the department. But to get in as a new grad is extremely competitive, don't get discouraged if you don't get picked. Go to another hospital and in 6 months start applying again for a Staff RN II job. I honestly love working at Kaiser and can't imagine working anywhere else. Sadly, the specialty that I thought I wanted doesn't train new grads. I know today there are other 5 candidates being interviewed with me. I'm so nervous. I will try to update you all on what to expect on the interviews and stuff. Don't feel discouraged, you already did the hardest part which was nursing school. You will get the job you want! Have faith. Good luck to everyone.
  8. I was for a few years, then I became an MA about 10 years ago. I also volunteered with KP. I did a lot of side things to make sure my resume could have a chance. NSNA fellow, CNSA delegate, VP of my student organization, ANA Ca ambassador. It's wildly competitive out there.

  13. Hi. I'm not sure how it looks on the external. But once you're able to apply on my end it said something like choose relevant files. I uploaded transcripts, cover letter, awards, ACLS, BLS and reference letters. Good luck
  14. Congratulations on your offers. I don't know how much luck you'll have asking here. Also it could be very biased. Someone's personal opinion can deter you from a place that perhaps it's a perfect fit for you. Weight your options in both hospitals. To me the most important thing is the hospital's culture. From what I read about both places I'd personally choose memorial if the offer is at one of their magnet facilities. Now, if your offer is for trauma I would def choose Jackson. But it all depends on what your goals are. If you're set and made up your mind about the path you want to pursue, then choose the one that makes more sense as far as career advancement. If not, then based your options in the usual, distance from home and pay scale. I know it sounds bad, but all you need is that first year under your belt. Good luck!   15. As long as you don't have more than 6 months of experience working as an RN you can apply. It does not give you any advantage over a BSN tho. My charge RN told me that every month you're not working as an RN after your BSN you become less desirable for an employer. I'm not sure why.
  16. #RNRSD. I didn't find it at work. But from home I was able to go through HR connect, employee careers and then I typed new grad RN and got lucky. But I tried the #RNRSD from a work computer this week and it worked. Good luck
  17. It is the weirdest thing. But this is what worked for me. Go onto HR connect and followed the employee career site. Then type #RNRSD. I got lucky bc I was able to find it applying from home just by typing new grad RN. But at work I couldn't find the link. Some people here were having the same issue. You're welcome. Type #RNRSD and it should pop the staff 1 RN Pasadena posting. Good luck!
  18. NUID is a letter followed by 6 numbers. Employee ID is a whole different number. Mine is only 6 numbers and completely different from NUID, but someone said it was asking for something with 8 numbers and that's confusing. You will need to memorize your NUID and employee ID. I wrote mine in a post it and stocked it inside my badge until I memorized it. You're going to need those two numbers memorized, you'll use the a lot for you HR connect and KP learn modules. I clock in using my employee id. If you have it, you can use any phone to clock in by dialing 1000 and following the prompts. They don't explain any of this at NEO ?. BTW any internal hire that's redoing NEO? I heard you have to, even if you did in the last two years. I just finished by BSN and applied this week for the fall cohort (crossing fingers). Super excited for all new grad hires! You're going to love working at KP! I've only worked at UC and KP and love both, but KP has my heart!
  19. It's asking for your employee number. Different from your NUID. Your employee number is the one you use to clock in. But you can send your union card with what you have. They will also have you do it at NEO, so no a big deal.
  20. This makes me feel slightly better. I think they are still reaching out to people from the Summer applications. I have over 12 years of experience in the field I applied to. They did say next week we should be hearing from them. And my application still says under consideration at least. I applied back in May when it opened.

  22. This is so discouraging! I applied back in May to the Fall cohort. I received an email saying we wouldn't hear from the until the week of July 21st for the fall cohort. Those who got interviews, did you apply to the Summer cohort as well or are these interviews for the fall cohort? Also are you internal? Have your RN already? Just curious about the process of selection. It seems very random. Good luck on your interviews! It's tough out there!

  24. I am so sorry. Believe me I know how you feel. This is the second time a program cancels on me ? I was hoping that it was only tele so at least those who applied to ICU could get in. I only applied to Sharp and the waiting is killing me. Riverside university will be opening later this year. And Kaiser too
