Hi, I am currently a traveler working at Queen's and living in Waikiki. If you're looking for your own housing, I would suggest also looking around on craigslist.com. I also went to several condo buildings that I was interested in living in and checked out their bulletin board of rentals (if you're already here in Hawaii. Thats how I found the next place that I will be staying at during the winter season). A lot of rentals in Waikiki are fully-furnished (including housewares, linens, pots and pans, etc.) because most are rented out as vacation rentals. Please keep in mind that starting this month of Nov., a lot of rental prices increase because of the holidays as well as the Honolulu Marathon in Dec., Probowl in Jan., etc. Average studio prices range from $1200-$3200, 1-bedrooms range from $2200-$3600. Expensive! All depends on location and view. I know of some travelers that stay at Discovery Bay, Ilikai Marina, and Waikiki Banyan. They all seem to be happy with their accomodations. The bus system is great. There is a bus stop right across the street from where I am living. Many of the travelers that I know at Queen's take the bus. My experience with the bus has been good. It is very reliable; approx. 15-20min. bus ride to Queen's from the outskirts of the Waikiki area (close to Ala Moana). Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. Hi SlapSilly, I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area but haven't heard much about Oakland Children's Hospital. It is quite a drive from Palo Alto though (45-50min.). If you want to be closer to your friend who will be working at Stanford, I would suggest trying El Camino Hospital, which is located in Sunnyvale (15-20min. from Palo Alto), but it is not a trauma center. If you want a trauma center, there is Stanford (but your recruiter told you there wasn't a need for ER) or Valley Medical Center in San Jose (approx. 30-35 min. away from Palo Alto). The next other trauma center in the SF Bay Area is San Francisco General Hospital, but is about 45-50min. away from Palo Alto. Another suggestions is the VA in Palo Alto, but again, not a trauma center, but a good teaching facility affiliated with Stanford. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Hi! I was referred to Emerald Health Services by another traveler and heard nothing but good things about the company. So, I decided to give them a call.
