For all student externs in the Memphis area...
thanks so much for this thread everyone! I applied to the U of M nursing school this past week and got a letter stating that my file was complete and notifications would be made/mailed by October 1, 2008 for the Spring 2009 semester. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I was wondering when the best time would be to look for externs/intern position and where. This thread will definitely be helpful.

Paying for nursing school
Thanks so much for your reply. May I ask if you know how one gets started in doing this? Do I need to apply for a job at Baptist, any type of job as long as I get hired, and then apply to nursing school? How does it work?

Paying for nursing school
Hi everyone, I finally picked up an application for the BSN program at the University of Memphis and took a look at the numbers and I just can not afford it . Unfortunately, I used my financial aid on undergrad(B.A. in Sociology and Women's Studies). By chance, does anyone know of any hospitals in the Memphis area that provide that will pay a student's tution, or some of it, in exchange for an employment contract? I am actively looking for another job but haven't had any luck so far.

CNA program
Hi there, Were you able to find a CNA program in the Little Rock area? I recently resigned from my dead end job with the state of AR in order to pursue a career in nursing. Currently, I live in Memphis but am having a hard time finding CNA programs here for some reason. My family lives in Little Rock and I would love to get back there by any means. If you were able to find a CNA program in Little Rock could you please share it with me? thanks in advance
- Has anyone failed nursing and came back again?

Questions about Baptist College of Health Sciences in Memphis,TN
I am interested in the night/weekend program at BCHS, as well. Currently, I do not have the option of not working but I really do not want to do what I am doing for the rest of my life. Hopefully, my application/admission process will go smoothly and I will be a step closer to becoming a nurse.

University of Tennessee Health Science Center
hi Glory27, I am so sorry to hear this. Each week I have put off starting on my application for BCHS for some reason or another. I am going to apply to UT's program instead. I am sending good vibes your way for UT. Good luck

Do you mind if I ask if you have looked into Baptist College of Health Sciences or the University of Memphis nursing programs? This past week I stopped by their campus and picked up a packet for their second degree program. If you are interested you can take a look at their program here: http://nursing.memphis.edu/home/index.php?page=BsnOverview here is the link to BCHS: http://www.bchs.edu/nur.asp hths

How long are science classes valid?
thanks everyone. I called one of the schools on my list yesterday and it was 5 years. The lady that answered the phone was somewhat rude and hasty. I plan on calling back tommorrow to see if someone else answers the phone.

Accelarted 2nd degree BSN programs
, by chance are you in/around the Memphis area? If so, do you mind telling me about the two accelarated BSN programs you applied to? I ask this b/c 24 months sounds better, at least in my head, than 12 months in terms of completion for me.

Accelarted 2nd degree BSN programs
can I be in ur family, please pretty please? My husband has two more years to go for his PhD so he has no time to do anything but thesis/grading papers & research....I do everything around here. Mentally & physically it's taking it toll on me but I can't show it. If it gets any worse, than what it currently is, I may have to put off my plans for a year or two until he is finished w/his PhD. We stay miles away for our family and it's just us three up here(me,DH & lil one who is 4) so it's SO SO hard for me....it's seems that between school, housework and everything else I just don't have enough hours in the day.:uhoh21: I am determined not to let this get me down but some days are harder to deal w/than other you know?

Congrats on having 4 months to go.....:balloons: :balloons:.
