  3. Hello everyone! I've posted about this question before but I have an update and questions, and I need advice. I've been admitted into UCLA already, but I decided to apply to CSULB for Spring of 2024 anyway. I did this at the time to give myself another option because I was, at the time, afraid of going away. I was also not happy about the program duration at UCLA (3 years) and the cost of it. anddd I got into CSULB! but it's not a decision as easy as I thought it would've been. Does it really matter what school you go to for nursing school? UCLA pros: has many opportunities and resources, such as research and presentations from guest speakers that are nurses or another professional that you can connect with. clinical rotations at UCLA hospitals. undergraduate college experience, like living on campus and being able to meet up with friends/people easily. NCLEX pass rate: ~90% UCLA cons: program is 3 years (finished June 2026), with a rotation during the second Summer. financial aid only covers 2 years for transfers. UCLA only guarantees 2 years of housing for transfers. program will be more expensive. program doesn't offer classes every quarter, so if you fail, you have to wait a whole year before you can retake and continue the program. CSULB pros: also a prestigious nursing school. the school itself has opportunities for research as well. has two program types, but I would choose doing 5 consecutive semesters (finished Aug 2025). less expensive and less time. CSULB offers classes every semester, so if you fail, you can retake the following semester. NCLEX pass rate: ~99%, side note: the past 3 groups who have taken the exam has ALL passed. CSULB cons: won't get to experience the undergraduate college experience of living on campus and living in the dorm. commute school, which will make it a little more difficult to meet with people and will require more effort to reach out and make plans because can't just walk to meet up with people.
  4. Thank you for taking the time to read and respond! I've decided to take the offer at UCLA

  6. Hi all! I appreciate anyone who comes across this post and decides to help out. I hope the question I'm going to ask doesn't sound sound dumb. I can't think straight bc I'm quite nervous, scared, and also excited about what's to come. I initially wasn't on track to become a nurse, so when I decided to (a couple months before 3rd year of CC), I had to haul a** to get as many prereqs done as soon as possible. In the end, I was only able to apply to UCLA, and I got in! I'm very proud of this, but I'm nervous and unsure for a couple of reasons. 1) It was not my top choice, 2) it's more expensive than my top choice, 3) the program is longer than my top choice, 4) I'm not looking forward to living on campus because I really like my own space, and 5) I'm a little scared of transitioning to quarter system. My top choice is CSULB, but I did not apply for Fall 2023 due to the amount of in-progress classes I would have. I know they count prereqs taken in the Spring as C grades towards GPA bc you haven't finished the classes yet. I would've had 3. Since this was the case, I had planned to apply for Spring 2024 in the case that I didn't get into UCLA, which I didn't think I would. Due to the reasons listed in the 2nd paragraph, I thought what if I reject UCLA and wait to apply for CSULB Spring 2024. I do think it's a risky move, but I don't think it's entirely that risky because I believe I have a really high chance of getting into the program. (I would also apply to other schools as well). My stats: 4.0 Overall GPA 4.0 Science GPA (I believe I'll finish physio and micro with As) TEAS 7 overall score: 95% TEAS 7 reading score: 92% My question is: should I reject UCLA and wait to apply to CSULB Spring 2024?
  7. OMG congrats!! I also got into UCLA AHHH
