SoCal Providence RN Residency Program - Feb 2026 Cohort
Have you, or anyone you know, received an official offer letter from Burbank? I received a verbal offer stating that a written offer will be forthcoming. It's been a week and the written offer hasn't been sent. Maybe I'm overthinking this, but the finding a new grad position is a rollercoaster ride to say the least.

They did say they were interviewing only for one day (1/7), and final determinations were made no later than 1/9. After that it's waiting for talent acquisition to send out official offer letters, which could take two weeks. Perhaps more interviews will be conducted, if someone declines their offer.

PIH new grad 2/9/26
I got the Downey on 12/15 (due on the 19th). I don't think the questionnaries are a big deal, I think everyone who applies get one. There's still plenty of time, so chances are you'll get one.

Another way is to log in to your applicant profile and then search the job listings the RN resident positions are listed

LA General New Grad Program 2025
Yes, if you have less than 12 months of experience, from this application you are placed into their new grad program, which is available at anytime of the year. Los Angeles County does not advertise for a new grad RN position like hospitals or other other counties.

It's hard to say. The best thing to do is call the nurse recruitment office. The hiring freeze for LA County Dept of Health Services jobs means no new positions. If someone quits, retires or is fired the dept can still fill that position regardless of the hiring freeze. If the position is not filled by end of the fiscal year (6/30/26) they lose funding for that unfilled position. It's a long shot because most people don't leave County jobs.

I definitely recommend calling the nurse recruitment offices. The people at UCLA-Harbor are especially helpful. Yes you will have to email your resume, your exam results, and your nursing license verification to the recruitment office to be scheduled for an interview. I recommend calling first, and they will instruct you. Just keep in mind that with the federal budgets there is uncertainty on hiring. For me Harbor-UCLA was the fourth hospital that cancelled their new grad hiring.

The County hiring process is long. If you passed an exam you will stay on the list for one year. After one year you have to re-apply and go through the exam process again. I just went through the interview process at Harbor-UCLA. Before getting a decision on my interview I received an email last week stating that hiring at all LA County Dept of Health Services hospitals is suspended due to the federal budget cuts (this includes LA General). Then why accept applications and conduct examinations you ask? Because if the budget improves they can resume hiring at a later time. If the budget was not an issue the next step after passing the exam would be to contact the nurse recruitment offices to inquire about open positions and where to send your resume and other documents. Nursing recruiters emails Los Angeles General Hospital: [email protected] or (323) 409-4663 Harbor-UCLA: [email protected] or (424) 306-8640 If LA County is where you want to be, check the Dept of Mental Health or Dept of Public Health. They might still be hiring.

In the first semester there are early morning clinicals beginning at 5:45am for half the clinical time then you switch to the afternoon clinicals beginning at 11:45am. The class is split into two groups one goes first for the morning and the other goes first for the afternoon time, then they switch. You have no control over which group you will be in, but everyone does mornings and afternoon clinicals (but not at the same time). After hour clinical day there is simulation lab the next day. So plan on being in person at least two days a week. (This does not include study groups and open lab) We just got our schedules for the 2nd semester, and there are two in person clinical days. They are back to back days so you could stay overnight, but that could change. Changes could happen based on the needs of the hospital we are assigned to. There is not much flexibility for clinical hours because those standards are set by the State Board of Nursing. As for the health paperwork contact [email protected]. She is very easy to work with. They were flexible with us; we could have pending Dr's appointments to obtain paperwork signatures at the time of orientation. Just because of timing we were given an extension because the new 2022 flu vaccine was not available until late August. In addition during orientation they devoted about an hour to go over the health forms.

It's possible to do, but difficult. Due to traffic and airport wait times driving from the LA area or taking a flight will be the same time; 4 hours door to door. For the same reasons 3-4 hours from the Bay Area. The construction at LAX means an hour just to leave the airport. Because there is a designated area for ride share pick up at the Las Vegas airport and construction in the area you're looking at a minimum of 40 minutes to get from the airport to school. It may not sound like a big difference but since the program is so fast paced, spending a total of 7-8 hours just in travel time every week takes a toll and makes a big difference.
