Switching career paths
Hi Luna 2025, I surrendered my RN license for a year, and got a masters degree in science, which I did used, the pay is not that good. Anyways, I had 4 lawyers in total, and what I learned is that if you get any other license it will affect regardless of what it is, because when you apply it will ask if you have any license revoked or suspended before. Also to get in the OIG list is usually for fraud, if you did any type of fraud to medical or, if it was a serious issue. In my case I was not placed on the OIG list. I got my license back and currently working. I did all the paperwork and represented myself to get my license back, because I was broke, if your issue is not too serious do the paperwork yourself I spend a lot of money. I learned a lot of the lawyers give you false help, then just tell you to surrender. Make sure you do your own research.

CA early termination of probation
Hello everyone, I submitted my package for early termination of probation, on February 24, 2025. I just received a letter today that my package was sent to the OAG, for a stipulated settlement.! Does anyone know, how long it takes for the AOG to complete the settlement.? I basically wait almost 4 months to get to this point. I'm just hoping it does not take too long.

CA early termination of probation
Oh no! Is frustrating, I hope they hire more people soon. I went through this about two years ago, when they were short of probation monitors, it took forever for them to approve my employment forms.

California early termination of probation
It depends, because , you are supposed work at least 24 hrs, weekly. I didn't take any vacation the first 6 months. If you can try to wait until, your six months are over. In case they ask you for your schedule, you don't want to be out of compliance.

California early termination of probation
Hello, does any body know where I can take classes related to fraud, and code of conduct. I will apply for early termination, but I still need to take a few classes. I tried multiple sites and I can't find much related to fraud, I did two but I need one more. Also code of conduct it keeps on taking me to nursing ethics which I completed, but my monitor said she can't suggest any classes. Please let me know if you guys know where I can take this classes, is the only thing holding me back from submitting early termination petition. Thank you!

California early termination of probation
Hello Helen, I surrendered my license after paying four different lawyers and spending over $40,000 on lawyers. What I learned is that some lawyers will give you hope just to make money, once the board decides that they don't want any settlement, most likely they will not change their mind even if you go the hearing. I surrendered my license for a year, and was allowed to apply for reinstatement after a year. The paperwork took around a year and three months after I applied. I got my license back, but was placed on probation for three years. My case was not reletated to substance abuse. It was due to attempting fraud for lying on an application to the BRN. From a lot of the cases I read if it was due to substance abuse if you surrender the process can take longer to reinstate the license, but every case is different. Make sure you find out if they have any programs for you before you surrender. Good luck.

CA RN on probation, BRN pending RN position
Hello Emma, Thank you for sharing this information. I'm sure it would help many nurses. I wonder if it would cover nurses whose probation is unrelated to substances. In my case, I got in trouble for lying in an application to the BRN.

CA RN on probation, BRN pending RN position
Yes, regarding of all this, it will get better. I know is very hard. There were days that I felt so depressed. I never thought I would find myself in this position. I know is overwhelming especially because there is not much we can do to speed up the process. One tip well I used to email at least once a week, also email to schedule a phone call and keep asking I know you don't want to annoyed them, but they have a lot of nurses for each probation monitor. Just be polite. I think they can assign over 100 nurses to a probation monitor, and if you keep insisting it may help them remember you. Even if they don't answer email so you can keep it for your records in case you need it later. I hopefully will start my new job soon. The last time I spoke to the monitor he said that they made some changes and are speeding up the approval process. Good luck!

CA RN on probation, BRN pending RN position
Hi RnJC, I waited almost three months and finally, got approved last week. I'm not sure how it works if there was an error, but I know a director told me that HR forgot to send the unit layout/map of the nurse's station for one of her nurses and she had to wait again to get approved hopefully this does not happen in your case. Good luck. I'm sorry that you are going through this I know how it feels. I was literally looking at my emails every time thinking is my approval letter. Stay positive hopefully, you will get it soon.

CA RN on probation, BRN pending RN position
Hello, I'm an RN dealing with the same issue. I reinstated my RN license and was placed on probation this year, and after applying to over a hundred places, I finally got a job offer. They turned in all the paperwork over five weeks ago. I was also told that the employment approval would take up to three weeks. It is so frustrating because it is not sure how long it will take. I called, and my probation monitor said they are undergoing some changes, which are taking longer than usual, but they can't give me a timeline. Now I'm worried because I'm not sure how long the potential employer would wait for me. Please share any updates you get. I will share any updates here. Good luck.!

California early termination of probation
Hi Danirn2003 I know your post was last year, but I had been going through something similar for a while, also in CA. Let me know did you find a job and how the process was working under probation. Also, I have some offers now. I can give you information about companies willing to hire nurses on probation.

Nurse going on probation
Hi Brad, How is everything? Did you get a job? I'm having the same issue after reinstating my RN license. I have applied to many jobs, including dialysis, case management, and psychiatric, and as soon as they find out that I'm on probation, they tell me they have to ask human resources. Then I usually get an email stating that they cannot hire me. I'm so frustrated is even depressing. I have experience and a BSN, and my restrictions are minimal. In my case was not related to diversion, substance abuse, or anything related to patient care. It was due to something that happened over eight years ago, and I lied on one of the questions when I applied to the BRN board.
