  1. I vote yes. My facility has a mental health unit, and I worked inside it and also in the medical unit, and my experience with patients encompassed psych, medical, & meds in both units. My patient experience did not differentiate outside of physical application. The guy who came in with an injury talked about his mental health the whole time, and another guy who came in for phych meds talked about his injury the whole time...like that.
  2. I don't understand why HR would talk to you without having a report to show you. Is it legit or are they trying to intimidate you? In my experience it is always the pharm tech, because the problem persists after the nurse is suspended or transferred. Sometimes it's more than one pharm tech, it's not like they coordinate their efforts to avoid detection. Get a copy of that report and call your lawyer. And find out who is investigating the incidents, make sure they are looking for people using your ID. When you get the report you can match the time to your shifts & see if it happened when you weren't at work, the investigator should be doing that for you and anyone else with opportunity. Sorry this is happening. It's very frustrating.
  3. So now that you know a background check isn't about employment history, you should learn what your former employers are allowed to say, or not allowed to say. Here in California, they wouldn't be allowed to state anything other than, start date, end date, position and responsibilities. There are ways around that, but people don't bother. I worked in another industry for 20 years before I became a nurse, and nobody contacted, nor cared, about my non-nursing past. Nuses are always understaffed, they don't care too much about your past, they care how soon you can start.
  4. In my State they only regard convictions on background checks, not arrests. Can you find out if they look at specifically arrest records? Have you been convicted or is your case still pending? Was there a place on the application that asks for arrest or convictions and you didn't disclose it? Look in the school catalog, it should be online if you don't have a copy. In there you'll find the policies that might address your situation.
  5. No. The requirement is completion of an LVN course. Regardless of what knowledge you currently possess, you don't meet the requirement to take the exam.
  6. I'm glad you found a job! I was out for 2 years and got placed immediately through one of those nursing recruiter agencies - they are eager to get their commission. I was going to suggest a school nurse job! But congrats and welcome back to the grind! ?
