  1. For those Summer cohorts, what did the orientation look like? Were the first few days classroom orientation the entire day?
  2. Did you ever hear back from them? I still haven't from any of the ICUs I applied to.
  3. Congratulations you got offers from both! I knew BUMC has better differentials but it's great that they offer relocation bonus. I interviewed with them too but didn't get the job :(. Oh and also, after you accepted the offer with UT, has your recruiter asked for your references or has scheduled you for pre-employment health screening? I was just wondering because I haven't done anything other than accepting the job offer and doing like the 17 tasks.
  4. When did you get the critical care offer? Are you starting October? I'm just a bit confused with their diff system so is 2nd shift from 3pm-11pm and 3rd shift from 11pm-7am?
  5. I asked about that part and he said after 2~3 weeks of training, you will start working on the floor both nights and days to see what works for you. Then after a few shifts, you will meet with the manager to discuss what your preference is!
  6. Hi! I just got an offer and I will be starting this October. Does anyone know if UTSW offers relocation bonus and what their differential is? I should've asked but I didn't.
  7. No I will be starting this October! Is that night+weekend diff? Do you know what the individual differential is for each night and weekend? Was not included in the offer letter so I just want to make sure!
  8. Does anyone know how much the night shift/weekend shift differential is?
  9. I head back yesterday so like 48 hours before my interview!
  10. WHAT I wish they let us know earlier. I declined offers from other hospitals ?I doubt ICU will have spots when ED don't but I just really want to hear at least something back. What's your next plan?
  11. Hi! I got a job offer from PCU at UTSW. I've heard great things about that hospital and I am really excited, but I know in some hospitals in my area our PCU ratio is 1:5 which I think is not safe at all :(. I was wondering how the patient-nurse ratios look like in UTSW!
  12. Hi! I also tried to message you but it didn't let me. I am an applicant for the MICU October cohort!! I was wondering if you have the contact number for the Talent Acquisition Team. I did a phone interview a few weeks ago and scheduled an interview but they haven't sent any confirmation email or the zoom link. I have no contact info because all I received was an automated email ? If you could please private message me your email as well I will email you. Thank you!!
  13. Hey! Sorry I can't answer your question. Do you by any chance know the contact information of the recruiters? I pre-screened with them 2 weeks ago and scheduled an interview for next week but they haven't sent me any details or confirmation about the interview. I don't have any contact info at all too so I'm getting nervous I might have lost my interview spot!
  14. Hi! I made this topic to see how everyone is doing. I applied for ICU, got pre-screened with a recruiter two weeks ago, and scheduled an interview next week with him. But I haven't gotten any interview confirmation email, and haven't received a link for a virtual interview. I also don't have any of their contact numbers so I'm kinda getting anxious LOL Did anyone hear back regarding their interview or have completed your interview?
  15. I know they do start later in October which is about 2~3 weeks later than other programs. I really hope they contact us soon because this is a smaller cohort! Good luck!! I really hope we can hear back pretty soon. Just out of curiosity, what made you decide parkland as your first choice?
  16. Hi! I made this topic to see how everyone is doing. I applied for ICU and PCU at Parkland around 6/13 but haven't heard back anything. I did hear Parkland is a little slow in getting back to applicants but getting anxious LOL. Did anyone hear back anything?
  17. I'm a May graduate, however, I applied to their fall cohort that starts in November because I missed the deadline for the Summer cohort. I just heard back from the recruiter that there are some available units that haven't been filled yet, so if I want I can interview with them and I can start in July (as a Summer cohort) instead of November. This is great, but the unit that I really wanted to work at was ICU and right now they only have PCU positions left. I heard this hospital is top-rated, being one of the largest hospitals in the nation, so I'm scared if I miss this opportunity I won't get another better chance. I don't know how the residency program works but what I thought is that there is no guarantee there will be ICU positions open for the fall. Should I still accept the interview request and start at PCU? Is this a question for the recruiter? I don't want to look greedy but I really do want to start off with the unit that I've dreamed if I could. The recruiter did mention that if I wish to start in November I can. Just a hard decision for me:( Thank you in advance!!
  18. 1) Position I am applying to (I.e. nurse residency program) 2) My educational background 3) Work experience 4) Why you want to work in this unit I was just confused because I'm applying to a nurse residency program for this large hospital system that has 15 hospitals in the area, and they accept one application for the entire system; I can only pick what hospitals or units I prefer. The thing is I really want to work at the ICU at their hospital, but if not, I want to at least work at the PCU or med/surg. I wasn't sure if I can write I want to work at ICU on my cover letter, because if I don't get into ICU and get to interview with another unit, they will not like it. Any advice and tips are greatly appreciated!! Actually, is it even possible to not get a job with ICU but ask for a position at another less competitive unit? Is this something I should discuss with the nurse residency program recruiter? I really do want to get into ICU, but I understand it is difficult and I just want to work at their hospita
  19. I am applying to 3 different nurse residency programs, and two of them require me to submit an actual recommendation letter along with the application, and one hospital just requires me to write their contact so that they can send a survey to them after the application is reviewed. I am trying to ask one of my instructors if she could write a recommendation letter for me and possibly complete the recommendation survey for the last hospital. Should I include in the email that I am wanting to apply for A hospital and B hospital and would appreciate it if she can write a letter for me? I wasn't sure how to word it politely while not being so needy ?Also, is it helpful to attach a resume? How did everyone ask for a recommendation letter? Also, I know a lot of people who apply to multiple hospitals at once; did you have to ask for a separate hospital-specific letter every time? Thank you in advance! Thank you so much!
