  1. Hello, I am a new DON promoted from within my building 120 bed. I have 2 years SNF experience, including supervisory experience. I have been to one DON in training program with my company prior to being promoted. for background previous DON was fired d/t not staying on top of things for a lack of better term. Id like for that not to be me. I want to have a proactive approach and prevent fires before they start. Prior to this promotion I enrolled in school for my Masters full time ( asynchronous ). I have a few questions if there's anyone who have been in a similar position and or a seasoned DON can give me advice in general or on the following below ( I also will be shadowing 2 DONs from sister facilities for 3 days). I have a supportive administrator and what seems to be a great nurse consultant. F tags : how you remember them all or keep them organized? Word doc paper binder? What do you keep as hard copies? Im thinking of a master/command center binder I can always have a reference Managing Staff Getting staff to " pull up their socks" many of the staff have a lack of urgency , very laid back and nonchalant What do you prioritize ? how you collaborate with admissions coordinators? Education/Inservices. Managing rehospitalizations/ falls/ infections how do you organize your facilities policies to be in line with CMS guidelines Collaborating with managers - ensuring all managers are " pulling their weight" surgery readiness, I would like the culture to be survey ready everyday so its second nature when state is around
  2. You have to email admissions with your student ID and a copy of your Driver's license in order to be enrolled. I finished all my castle branch requirements with no issues. what sort of problems are you having with the code.
  3. Hi there, yes on the acceptance letter that was emailed its 9am-2pm at S-449 Babara Lee Science and Allied health building at Merritt ( something like that).
  4. I did not get anything after I submitted the acceptance form. Im assuming we are to show up given that we sent in a completed form before the due date.
  5. wow wow wow congratulations. lots of good news! hope to see you at Merritt Orientation
  6. yes I did I think it was cis205
  7. I emailed mine directly from the ATI website sent to Merritt ADN program.
  8. I got my acceptance too!
  9. I havent heard anything yet- lottery supposed to be done today. the application did say if you don't hear from them by June 3rd send an email. we created a group on fb for Bay Area nursing students- under the name Bay Area Prospective Nursing Students to share information about the programs. feel free to join
  10. try this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/570441381170096
  11. I created the group on facebook- it is Bay Area Prospective Nursing Students for anyone who wants to join- to keep trolls out I added a few questions for entry
  12. Good luck on the TEAS. I took mine in January. Incase anyone applied to Chabot College and missed this email- the fall 2022 program has been deferred to August 2023. I can create the group. if all those interested in being in the group or know someone I can invite you guys- just leave your facebook handle and I can send the invite.
  13. Who wants to create the group ? I think facebook would be best- I am planning to retake the TEAS in July in order to apply to CSUEB. I applied to Chabot College in Janurary but I did not receive any correspondence from them. I felt rushed to take the TEAS for their deadline and I did not get the score I was hoping for. The lottery system is risky, I hope we all get in!
  14. maybe we should form a group - whether we get in or, cause I for sure will be trying again and will be applying to other Bay Area schools. that way we can easily share important information etc
  15. I got this same email I also got 72% for my first time - I was planning to take the TEAS again to apply directly to CSUEB this august, so I am studying for the TEAS again. May 20th when they conduct the lottery I will know for sure if I should schedule my TEAS.
