TEAS Tips
I paid for the official TEAS study guide and also for the online TEAS practice tests through the ATI website and they were very helpful! They have two different versions available and it gives you a really good sense of how the exam is laid out, what types of questions will be on the actual exam, and the timing you need to adhere to in order to complete the exam. It was some extra cost but well worth it in my opinion... some of the questions on the practice exams were almost exactly the same on the actual TEAS exam! It really helped me and I got a 92%! Best of luck and good studying!

What do you recommend? Tips for Nursing School, Best Books, Supplies
To all the experienced nurses / nursing students out there… I’m wondering what tips you have for a new nursing school student? What supplemental books did you find helpful? What are the best shoes, watches, or other supplies that you’ve found? What other tips do you have for a first time nursing student? I’m admitted and looking forward to starting a nursing program Summer 2022, and want to be as prepared as possible for what is ahead! Thanks in advance for your response!

CSUSM ABSN Summer 2022
What Duncanda said... When I contacted them, they said that it will eventually pop up in the holds section, and not to worry about it for now. They said it will take longer than the 24-48 hours as specified in the admissions letter. Since we are a cohort, we will be automatically registered in our classes each semester! @sims4 did you hear back from SF State? @J.O congrats! Like Duncanda said, we want to get our cohort together for a chat/meet and greet sometime soon! Michael

CSUSM ABSN Summer 2022
Hi @heatherb23 - acceptance was through email. When I calculated my last 60, it was the most recent 60 units in total. If you go back as far as your bachelor's degree, then take the most recent semesters and use the highest graded courses if you are calculating the final units and have more units than needed to complete the final 60. I had this exact scenario, and I had 54 units total in my most recent coursework plus the two semesters of final year of bachelors. CSUSM used 6 units from the previous semester (the highest grade) to calculate my last 60 GPA, even though I took a total of 12 units that semester. Does that make sense?

@Duncanda @Sethman -I also had an international transcript and it took months for it to get accepted properly! On the academic calendar, it looks like Summer semester starts June 6th! Also thought everyone might like to know, of the first three courses we have to take (ANTH 301, BIOL 323, PHIL 345) my points eval indicates that I have previous coursework that satisfies two of the courses. It showed "satisfied" on my points evaluation under those sections, so if you have taken a Nutrition course, a holistic health course (or other upper level anth course), you may be able to get credit for them! 2022-2023_academic-calendar.pdf

@Sethman, thanks and yes, I received my points eval in December, I had previously submitted an application to the program so I had once before received a partially completed points evaluation, when I got it this time it said “updated eval” so they must have kept it on file and were able to quickly finish it. If you haven’t got your eval back yet, maybe contact EL and see what is missing.. it took me a long time to get my transcripts accepted correctly when I did it last year. Best to you. Michael

CSUSM ABSN Summer 2022
Hi sims4nurse, congratulations on your point score! That’s a really great score and I’m pretty sure it will get you in to the program! Thanks for posting your stats, it’s good to know others are receiving their point evaluations- it means that they are getting closer to letting us know if we have been admitted! Hopefully early February we will all find out… I’m curious to know if any others in this forum have received their point evals yet? CSUSM does not do interviews for admission, it is solely based on the point system, unlike other programs. I’m banking on getting in to the Summer program, because I live in Temecula so it will be super convenient! Still hoping more people will find this forum and join, as past cohorts have had significantly more activity on here than this semester. Best of luck to you! Glad we can be here to support each other while we wait to hear from the school! Kindly, Michael

Hi Duncanda, thanks for your response, yes it seems the admissions stats points are higher each semester, so hoping that above 40 is still the “safe zone” for admissions! Do you have a CSUSM account where you can view the “student center” and see if your application is “complete”? I know the feeling of waiting for the points breakdown is nerve wracking, but hopefully you will get the 42/43 you expect! I look forward to hearing from you when you get your points worksheet- thanks for starting this thread so we can all support each other! Kindly, Michael

CSUSM ABSN Summer 2022
Hi everyone- I applied for the Summer 2022 cohort in Temecula in the end of October 2021, received confirmation that my application was accepted on Nov 17 2021, and received my points worksheet on December 20 2021. Here are my stats - pre req GPA 3.87 - last 60 GPA 3.56 - TEAS 92%. Total points 42 - Hope this is going to be good enough to get accepted! Anxious to hear if anyone knows when they will be notifying students of acceptance into the program and wishing everyone luck ! Michael
